How long have you been on the valtrex?  It can really make you not feel good when you first start so loss of appetite wouldn't be abnormal.  Same goes for Diflucan.  It should come back but of course, you need to keep the health of your children in mind.  Definitely monitor and make sure that it doesn't get dangerous but loss of appetite is kind of part of the deal with some kids.  Believe me, they may not feel good as it really can give you the yuckies for a couple weeks.cherylBoth my boys have experienced a big decrease in appetite while on Diflucan & Valtrex.  This is undesirable w/ my younger son, 9.  Is it the Valtrex or Diflucan?  Could it be that Diflucan controls the yeast enough that they don't get food cravings?  Has anyone else experienced this, & what helps?  He REALLY needs to eat, as he's too thin.TIA, Some people expend tremendous energy merely to be normal.  Albert Calmus

We got the no appetite on just 1/3 tablet of Valtrex, we never continued as she got pretty severe stomach pains also. I always wonder if she wouldn't have acclimated to the Valtrex as far as the appetite goes but she was too uncomfortable to continue.

How long have you been giving the Valtrex? Same here, she was very thin then, not eating was not an option.

We had no luck with valtrex either. If you read the responses--we were not alone. maurine wrote: We got the no appetite on just 1/3 tablet of Valtrex, we never continued as she got pretty severe stomach pains also. The boys are 9 & 12, both fully verbal, & very high functioning. The

12 y.o. was on it about 10 months. We tried it to see if it'd help

the motor skills issues that nothing else helped. It didn't (still

looking after 7 yrs.), but I was pleased to see his appetite normalize

for the 1st time in his life. Within 2 wks of going off, the old

appetite returned. He never said he didn't feel good on it, nor did

he say he felt better off.

The 9 y.o. started in March, I think. His behavior got bad, real

spacey, hard to get to mind, constant talking back, etc. I was

relieved when school was out. He missed the meds a couple of weeks,

but back on it now for a couple. His behaviors don't seem quite as

bad, but I've lost my gauges (school, & organized sports teams). He

has not said he's felt bad either.

I'd really like to nail down which is responsible for the loss of

appetite.
