Ok, I need some big help here. I just sat in ARD and I was informed

that we could not know much about an aide that is working with a

child, for their information is not open to public knowledge like the

teachers information is. Has anyone heard of this? This is news to

be. Though I do think this person has worked as a teacher before, so

where can I go and look up her name on my own to get information.

Thanks,

Interesting - I just looked up several special ed teachers and aides

certifications last night. Go to the link below and input as much info that

you have and you will have the credentials/certificates with dates valid

noted. The more info that you have the better. You would be surprised how

many teachers with unusual names share those unusual names.

If the aide is not listed then I would question if this person has any

certifications and/or experience. Could this be a regular " substitute " in

the district? And there are different types of certificates so you will

have to consider that as well. There is actually a certificate that can be

given to an individual who has not got the required experience but the

school district has " vouched " for and will oversee and train. I call those

the " green tomato " teachers. Should sit on the window sill for a while

until they are really ready! Many do not remain for a second year and that

means that our kids were not provided with experienced teachers.

The certifications that I have run into are:

Professional

Standard

Provisional

Probationary

And the TEA and SBEC have recently been " merged " so the link may change in

the future but you can go to the TEAs website to get to it.

Sorry, I forgotten to mention that this person is not from TX.

But is there a law that anyone knows of that parents dot no have the right know

about the aides background as they do the teachers?

I am really puzzled by this.
