Guest guest
I haven't seen any black trays. Peat and perlite must be really light. Ihave seen perlite at garden stores. They say that coir blocks can be had at Home Depot. I haven't looked yet. On my 4 seed mixes, the radish is a bit better than the other seeds as far as greening out soon and being strong. The favor is distinctive too. I enjoyed it today on a sandwich I had.  I don't quite know howto use the things like buckwheat and lemon grass, etc. I heard that you can't eat lemon grass but tht itis used for flavoring and removed. What kind of peas are used or does it matter? I saw about 4 types of peas. I guess I am just used to a larger salad. But they are good on a sandwich. Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Saturday, March 17, 2012 11:21 AM Subject: Re: Nalo Greens  Hi Carolyn. I did soak all the seeds initially and waited to see little tails before planting them in organic soil( peat/perlite).I'm pretty sure they would grow well on coir though. I followed the growing directions on Sproutpeople's site. While the mix looked great on paper, the radish and particularly the buckwheat overgrew everything else and I didn't see much sunflower or pea shoot growth. I think a better option would be to grow each individually and then mix them together as a salad when they are done. I used 10 x 20 " black plastic trays for growing. Nalo Greens I'm about to sprout a Sproutpeople mix-Nalo greens which contains sunflower, buckwheat, peas and radish seed. It's meant to be grown as a green and not sprout. Sounds pretty interesting. I've never eaten buckwheat or pea greens. Can anyone tell me how they taste? Thanks.
