Guest guest
YES! antibiotics can be harmful: staph can often be more harmful ? If you are worried about yeast getting out of hand, probiotics may help a lot in keeping a balance in the gut. Is there a particular worry or something other parents can help with? Guest guest
My grandson had a staph infection(according to our ped-they are becoming quite in fashion and common) about 2 months ago on his face. You need to do the antibiotic absolutely. Don't mess around with staph infections. I doubled up on the pro-biotics and continued to use the diflucan he was already on. It worked out fine. maurineBRIAN RAZZI wrote: We took our son to the pediatrician today and he has a staph infection. The pediatrician has prescribed antibiotics to treat the staph infection. Guest guest
Staph infections are pretty serious and they require antibiotics. While your son is on them make sure you give ample probiotics to replace the good bacteria. With staph you have to finish your prescription and take every dose. It is also very contagious, so clean sheets and other things well in very hot water. - From: mb12 valtrex [mailto:mb12 valtrex ] On Behalf Of BRIAN RAZZI Sent: Thursday, July 19, 2007 6:34 PM To: mb12 valtrex Subject: Staph infection. Guest guest
I want to thank all of you for your quick responses and advice. We called our son's DAN and thankfully we got him just in time and he also agrees that a staph infection needs to be treated with antibiotics. He also said to make sure that we give antibiotics away from other supplements and up the probiotics. Again thank you all for your advice we feel much better about giving our son the probiotics. Guest guest
Just an FYI on antibiotics, my 6 y.o. ASD son is on them at moment for a nasty case of strep throat. He is almost 6 and has never been on antibiotics. I have always been scared to death that one day he would have to take them. Fortunately, in the past, his illnesses have been viral and we have always treated w/lots of rest, fluids, natural remedies and some over the counter products if necessary. However, this time was different. I have never seen him this sick other than after he received MMR. In this instance, my mommy instincts kicked in and I really felt an antibiotic was the only way to go, as recommended by his very open-minded holistic pediatrician. I am happy to report that he is recovering very nicely. His fever broke this early this a.m. and he is happily eating a small breakfast which he can finally swallow. We started loading him up w/probiotics before the first dose of antibiotics. While I would still use antibiotics very sparingly, I do think they are useful. With this group's guidance and a good DAN doc on board, I think our kids can take antibiotics safely when necessary. Dana * Staph infection. Guest guest
I agree with you. We have tried so hard to keep our son as healthy as possible and for this to happen it was just devastating to us. However with the support of everyone on this group and our DAN we feel positive that we are going to get our son thru this and back on the road to recovery once again. Thank you, DanaDana Read wrote: Just an FYI on antibiotics, my 6 y.o. ASD son is on them at moment for a nasty case of strep throat. He is almost 6 and has never been on antibiotics. Guest guest
Opinions vary between homeopaths. Some ‘purists’ won’t allow homeopathy & allopathy (the antibiotics) at the same time. I know several who would probably do both together. Some might even probably start with homeopathy alone for a few days & go over to antibiotics if it’s not solved in the meantime... As others said staph. is not to be messed with, so if you started antibiotics already you definitely have to go on with it. Every case & every doc is different but I think you can give it a try, it won”t harm anyway. Good luck Senta Senta, We have a phone consult with a homeopath this Tuesday so I will ask her about this.
