Yup, it's dead. It didn't pass, so I'm not sure what your teacher is

referring to. Right now the legislature is trying to pass something that

will pay for textbooks because the textbook appropriation was being used as

a big bargining chip. When the school finance reform didn't pass, neither

did the money to pay for textbooks--all of which have been ordered and are

sitting in warehouses waiting to be shipped, but probably won't be there for

the first day of school.

Have you heard anything more about HB 2? A teacher at my children's school

told me that the school finance bill had passed and that we would start

school next year after Labor Day... I had not heard anything and thought

maybe I missed something. Does anyone know differently?
