Guest guest
Hi -- and welcome to sprouting! You can get seeds in a number of places: order online (this does add shipping costs) Whole Foods and large natural supermarkets with bulk bins some health food stores (make sure it's a place with good turnover) ethnic food stores (often at Asian/Indian markets) regular supermarket (seeds from here not always reliable sprouters) local garden centers/seed suppliers (see note**) Wherever you purchase, make sure that the seeds are: UNTREATED -- no chemicals applied for planting preferably organic not pasteurized or heat-treated appear fresh, non-buggy, non-broken The (note**) is to be aware that seeds that are intended for in-ground planting, may be treated with pesticide, fungicides, or other protective chemicals that you need to avoid. Garden/farm supply places will tend to have these. If you're near a Whole Foods, you can get lentils, mungs, adzukis, sesame, flax, wheat, garbanzos, peanuts, etc. from the bulk bins. Otherwise, easiest way to try a few different types is to order a sampler pack from a reliable online retailer. Sproutpeople.org is my favorite (and the sponsor of this list). For something you can sprout TODAY (because when I want to try something, I want it NOW lol), get a fresh bag of whole supermarket lentils and follow Sproutpeople's instructions: http://sproutpeople.org/lentilgreen.html Hope this helps! Please ask more questions as you need, we always love to talk about our sprouts. Molly > > Ok do you just get dry seeds from the grocery store? Or maybe seeds from the > famers supply? Guest guest
, the lentils need to be whole - not split. And if you buy them at a regular supermarket, they may or may not sprout. Just so that you don't get your hopes too high, and also so that you don't think, if they don't sprout, that somehow you have failed. Pam On 9/14/11 4:30 PM, " " wrote: >Oh Molly thanks bunches.
