Bill and all:

" I also notice intense dreams but I havent experienced

mood swings as reported in some responses in this

forum "

In my experience with allergic reactions intense dreams and abrupt mood

swings are signs of allergy to a medication. My whole immediate family (my

mother, sister and me) are allergic to codiene. I end up with intense

nightmares, abrupt mood swings, itching, intense irratiblity and a nasty

temper when I had taken it, my mom's the same way save that she has an extra

symptom from it, vomiting. I suggest those of you who are having symptoms

like these with the Singulair (including your 2.5 yr old) talk to your

doctor about more information on allergic reactions to Singulair. With

Singulair intese shaking or uncontrollable shaking and disorientation is

also a sign that too much has been taken along with normal medications. A

girlfriend of mine who had severe asthma took too much once because she just

couldn't breathe, I had to rush her to the hospital. While her boyfriend was

waiting downstairs for the medics I was sitting with her and I swear she was

almost dying because she kept calling to her dead grandmother and passing in

and out of consciousness. I litterally had to slap her in the face to keep

her awake and alive. Most scary thing that ever happened to me.

I've taken this a month ago with no problem. The brand name is

spelled with a number: S1ngulair. It says it treats asthma by

" blocking subtances in your lungs called leukotrienes that cause

narrowing and inflammation of airways " . I'm still taking it once

a day before bed time. (10mg)

Earlier today, I spoke via the telephone to a freind

of mine that also takes Singulair from San Diego, CA

regarding the intense dreams that I was experiencing.

Amazingly, she said although shes only been taking the

drug for a month she also has experienced nightmares.

I didnt get a chance to ask to what degree but I

thought you would want to know.

Sheal,

Now that's about the scary's thing I've heard in a

long time. I'll be sure not to ever overdose on the

Singulair :) Candidly, I hate the idea of taking any

medicine but its a catch 22.

Hmmm.........Interesting. We have the same problem with our son who is 3 1/2. He has been on Singulair for almost 2 years now. I never considered that could be the cause!

Actually I am using the chewable but he does not chew it he swallows

it. I thought this was strange considering it says right on the

bottle 'chew thoroughly' but the pharmacy wrote on the label to

swallow or chew. Is hyperness a side effect of Aspertame?

The dye alone would send my son off the

walls!! We take 8mgs of the powder packets (each packet is 4mgs) 1st

thing in the AM. It tastes great and my son takes it right off of a

spoon. By far the easiest thing I give him. It took several months

to work up to this amount.

Aspartame has a whole host of problems

associated with it. The pilots association sent out a warning several

years ago to warn pilots against drinking diet soda with Aspartame in it

because it was causing seizure disorders. Pilots were loosing their licenses.

It also was originally invented as an ant killer. Another present from

Rumsfeld. Too many negatives to list. -

My daughter didn't handle Melatonin very well. She would pass out very soon after taking and wake up really early. It also made her very grumpy and irritable....like she was sleeping but not a restful sleep. Wow, thanks for the responses. I called my Walgreens and they do not

carry the 4mg granulars. I guess they would have to order it. Do I

have to have my doctor write a new Rx?

Thanks - Jeannine
