Guest guest
Hi Gang! OMG, my interview went fantastic! I didn't even have to give them my resume. The essays that I emailed to them last week were sufficient enough to prove my writing. I got the correspondent reporter position! My editor gave me my first assignment while I was there! Yippee!!! Basically, I will be given stories to write about. There isn't a deadline. I just write the story and turn it in. I'll get paid anywhere from $50-75 for each story and photographs are additional. I can write as much as I want or as little. It's entirely up to me. They gave me a contract and everything will be done on a Form 1099 for taxes. I'm my own boss. In addition, since I'm the only one in the South Daytona area, they are going to build me into my own weekly column! I'm so excited. This opportunity is wonderful for me. My first assignment is going to be on a volunteer organization that puts together care packages to send to the soldiers over in Iraq. All of my work will be human interest stories and those are the ones I love to write. I can't believe it. To be paid for doing what I love to do. WOW. The only damper is that my brother is mad at me for accepting the position. He feels that I should stay in the medical field. I'm not deviating at all. I'm looking at this opportunity as a chance to express myself, supplement my income, and meet people. It's not work to me at all. It's more fun and the ability to further my learning. I don't understand why my brother is so upset. My sister in-law (his wife) got all over him about how he treated me. So, she told me not to say anything more to him about it. I'm supposed to tell him about school and nothing more. However, she wants me to send her all of my articles via snail mail and she is going to keep a secret file at home. LOL. We shall see. So, that is my wonderful news! I'll let you all know how it goes. Tomorrow I am going to start on my interviewing process. TTYL. Much love, Terry
