Tamilee & yoga

Never do a cheesy, silly but very fun aerobics workout before yoga... it just doesn't help you relax and get into the practice! I learned this the hard way today. I did Tamilee's Fit to the Hits Rock Hard Assets as my get me warmed up so I'm flexible for yoga and get a little cardio in too workout. This is only my second time doing it. The last time I did it was in February so it has been a while. I had forgotten how funny it is! Tamilee takes an attitude telling you that it doesn't matter if you want her to sing or not because she's going to anyway among other things, and she does too (and shouldn't). The songs are all very fun recognizable (to us in the over 30 crowd) rock and roll songs and besides singing, she also has you doing air guitar and air drums among other things. There are a few short combinations, not too complicated but fairly dancey so, of course, I'm far from being able to do all the moves but I faked it as well as I could. A lot of it actually reminded me of routines pom pom girls and cheerleaders do sometimes (and I was definitely neither in high school or college). I had tons of fun with it anyway, I even danced through the credits after the workout was over and I NEVER do that! It is a very light workout for me, I was in my zone for 5 out of the 30 minutes, but I didn't care, this was planned to be a light week so it was just right!

Afterwards, I put in P.M. Yoga for Beginners with Walden. I was way too goofy for this when it started! She's setting a very quiet, mellow, settle down for the nigh mood and it was about 9 in the morning and I'm goofy! I settled down but still did not enjoy this practice one bit! I l could not follow her directions for the life of me. She would say put your left foot in this position and your right foot like this, etc.but rarely named the pose. My listening skills were impaired I guess so I was having a terrible time following. If she would have named the pose I probably could have figured it out but she takes it one step at a time, with the camera on her feet or legs instead of her entire body (so I didn't have a clue if it was the right or left foot I was seeing) and she didn't always give all the directions you needed so you had to listen and watch the TV so very frequently I was totally messed up and got less than nothing from it as a yoga practice or a stretch. I fully realize this could have just been a reflection of where I started mentally so I do need to try this again from a quieter frame of mind before I really judge it (but would love to hear from others who have done it to get an idea of how much was me & how much was her).

Tomorrow is going to be my day for at least a few hours... I have some gift cards for Kohl's and I'm going shopping for some new summer clothes. I need more that is appropriate for work. I also have a $20 gift card for Borders and they're having a ton of in store promotions this weekend so I'm going to go check those out too. I'll consider this my special thing for my mammogram experience and all my hard work with the FIRM the last few months and for trying to keep working out (3 times last week & this week so far) despite my schedule being completely thrown out with summer vacation having started! I'm going ALONE too so even if I don't end up finding any good buys, I'll still be on my own for a few hours so it will be worth it! :-)
