Guest guest
I'm curious about onion seed germination rates. I read that they are very, very slow to sprout and takes two weeks for the sprouts to get to a reasonable edible size. However, I am currently sprouting " Russian Mix " from sproutpeople.org, and I was very surprised that after less than seventy-two hours, all my onion seeds are beginning to sprout? I thought it usually took longer than under three days for these puppies to sprout. The only thing I can think of is that the seeds were exposed to temperatures of twenty degrees below zero (at least) for no less than six hours but no less than ten. Could this flash cold -- like winter -- help the seeds to sprout sooner? Or am I just imagining things? Any comments appreciated.
