The workshops will focus on teaching parents, educators, and other caregivers the necessary tools to reduce problem behaviors exhibited by individuals with Autism. Other treatment approaches such as training functionally equivalent replacement behaviors, redirection, and differential reinforcement are among the many topics to be discussed over the various presentations. Attendees will be provided with the unique opportunity to conduct actual Functional Assessments and develop treatment protocols based on the results. This series is based upon the teachings of B.F. Skinner and will be conducted by Nikki Keefer, Ph.D., BCBA. Dr. Keefer has been a Behavior Analyst for over 13 years. She received her Doctorate from the University of Florida under Dr. H.S. Pennypacker. She is currently serving as the Acting Clinical Director for four different providers in the States of Florida and Texas serving individuals with Autism and other disabilities. Additionally, Dr. Keefer is providing clinical oversight and consulting for three other agencies across the state of Florida. Furthermore, Dr. Keefer serves on the board of the Autism Society of Greater Orlando. She has extensive experience working with individuals diagnosed with Traumatic Brain Injury, Schizophrenia, Prader-Willi Syndrome, Autism, Developmental Disabilities, as well as other various clinical diagnoses. Dr. Keefer will describe and provide examples of identifying the functions of behavior problems and introduce ways to reduce them while increasing the opportunities for appropriate behaviors to occur. The ultimate goal of this series is to provide parents, educators and caregivers with the experience and skills necessary to create long lasting and meaningful behavior change.
