Hi everybody!!!

The inheritance of my CMT is a very dificult issue for me. Really I don´t want

to pass it to nobody because for me it has been very very dificult. But it isn´t

synonimus that I don´t want to be mother. My boyfriend, who has a genetic

illness too, and I decided that when we finish our master we are going to adopt

a baby. I think that want to have a son with somebody is a very big prove of

love. Conclussion: CMT is neither a barrier for love nor for the motherhood.

Hi !

I applaude your efforts and the conclusion to adopt is one that always excites

me. Please, however, keep this in mind....

I don't have CMT, I had issues staying pregnant, I always miscarried at 3-4

weeks...I've had 4 miscarriages...my husband and I decided to adopt and we have

now 2 beautiful boys! It took us 5 years for our first child to arrive and

another 3 1/2 years for our second.

My oldest son was diagnosed with CMT at the age of 9. (It has never

been in either of his birthparents family's before) So, what I am

saying to you is - you do what is right for you and for your health.

The decision to give birth or adopt is no guarantee for having a child that

doesn't have CMT. What is meant to be, is meant to be. I adore both of my

children and can't imagine loving them more than I already do. You also need to

remember that you will both have to fill out many many forms that will question

your health. I don't know how the adoption agencies and attorney's view CMT or

other genetic illnesses, but it is something to consider when pursuing adoption.

Many birthparents are involved in selecting the adoptive parents of their

children...so there is much to consider.

Adoption has made our lives so full...so happy...and I believe that

both of our boys are a gift from Above.

Please keep us posted!

You are right. It should not be a barrier. I have CMT & my feet arent so good

but I also have a beautiful, wonderful, intelligent son who does not seem to

have any problems with his feet so you should do what you want. Ij ust have one

though and won't have any more. I took one chance and it came out good I don't

want to push it, in your country that might be said as I don't want to take more

than my share of chances. But, at least take one chance. If that chance is

adoption for you then congrats!
