Guest guest
Debbie: There are those here far wiser and experiecned than me, but until they chime in--often times it is an imbalance in the supprting supplements-are you on folic or folinic acid? supplementing with magnesium and zinc? Jack Der Hagopian Esme's dad MB12 and hyperactivity Dear Listmates,Started MB12 shots on my 9 year old son this week. I thought he was responding just fine, but his teacher called me to report that he was much more "hyperactive and impulsive.........just not himself." She actually didn't have anything positive to say. This surprised me because I hadn't noticed much difference in his behavior at home. Also, last night he woke up after having a bad dream, although he was able to resettle and go back to sleep. I knew that hyperactivity was a possible negative response to MB12, but I was just wondering how long these side effects might last. He is 90lbs and on .05mls every 3rd day. Thanks! Guest guest
Debbie, Sounds alot like what happend with my son. He was taking the nasal spray with folinic acid in it. My son cannot tolerate folinic acid at all. So once we took the folinic out of the spray he was just fine and we saw very very good things from Methyl b12. Good luck! Guest guest
Hi Yes, Dr. Neubrander has included hyperactivity is one of the "positive/negatives" that can go along with MB12. These side effects generally last 4 to 6 months. What other supplements are you taking? We needed zinc monomethionine (go slow and take with food) in order to tolerate the MB12. Also, he benefitted from folate (could not tolerate folinic), B6, magnesium sulfate cream and taurine. The magnesium sulfate cream and taurine definitely helped to calm his behavior. Dr. Neubrander discusses these necessary additions on his website. Guest guest
Thanks everyone for responding! I so appreciate the support found in this network. We are on 50mg of zinc monomethionine and 664mg of magnesium taken daily. My Dan! also prescribed Leucovorin Calcium (which I think is folic acid) - but I didn't start it because I wanted to see what the MB12 would do by itself. Vera, I like your idea of the magnesium sulfate cream and taurine and I will ask my doctor about this when I speak with him on Tuesday. Maybe I could up his GABA from 200mg too? 4-6months is such a long time to wait for these side effects to go away, but I guess we will just plow ahead one step at a time. Guest guest
Along those same lines ... those with COMT++ can not tolerate mb12. They need hydroxy b12 instead. My son was completely out of control on mb12 spray and now we know why. We haven't tried the hydroxy b12 yet. , do you know if hydroxy b12 also causes ammonia? He is also CBS, but is on the ammonia protocol (less the rna). Guest guest
Aloha Molly and , Could someone explain to me what is COMT +/+ or COMT -/-? Or, at least tell me what it stands for so I can look it up? Thanks- Debbie > > > Debbie: > > > > > > There are those here far wiser and experiecned than me, but > until > > they chime in--often times it is an imbalance in the supprting > > supplements-are you on folic or folinic acid? supplementing with > > magnesium and zinc? > > > > > > Jack Der Hagopian > > > Esme's dad > > > > > > > > > > > > MB12 and hyperactivity > > > > > > > > > Dear Listmates, > > > Started MB12 shots on my 9 year old son this week. Guest guest
If you are COMT ++ you are an over methylator so you need to limit your methyl supplements (use hydroxy b12 instead of methyl b12.....other methyl donors that should be limited are c0Q10, carnosine, idebenone, melatonin, quercetin) If you are COMT -- you are an under methylator. You need a lot of methyl donors. You should use methyl b12. --- debbien_zimmerman wrote: > Aloha Molly and , > > Could someone explain to me what is COMT +/+ or COMT > -/-?
