Guest guest
Hi, One of my goals for the summer is to declutter - and one area I need to work on is my exercise DVD/VHS collection. I'm trying to be ruthless, but I also don't want to experience great trader's remorse. Here's my thought process - although I have, at times, enjoyed Amy's and Cathe's workouts, they were never ones I reached for often. I don't love Cathe's weight workouts - too structured or something - not sure what it is! Amy's cardio workouts are done at lightening speed which make me concerned about injuring my back. I have had fun w/ Amy's workouts, especially her kickboxing workouts, but I'm thinking that type of speed is just a recipe for loss of concentration on proper form and injury. So....what do you think?I think the reason I'm holding on to them is b/c I feel that I 'should" like them and do them b/c so many people do. But, that is is probably not a good reason. I'm thinking of getting rid of my T-Tapp's too. Not enough fun factor, plus a lot of weird alignment stuff. I watched a bit of her Step Away the Inches workout, and I'm wondering why anyone would tell you to purposefully walk on the outside of your foot? And, w/ a slight pelvic tuck? I don't know - it doesn't seem natural. Thanks for listening to me ramble!Donna
Guest guest
Donna, I can understand you saying you "should" like your Cathe and Amy workouts, but the way I look at is if you aren't doing them and don't even like them all that well then I say get rid of them and get you some that you will use. I know I got rid of a few that I wasn't using and I don't miss. I do admit to getting rid of a few that I wish I had back now. So as Kassia said, if you do decide to get rid of some of your workouts would you mind listing them here? I got rid of a couple Cathe's that I'd like to have back and I haven't got all the Amy workouts I want. I also think that you HAVE to think about your back. I know that I have back issues and I'm not 20 anymore, so I have to think about my body and not what workouts I "should" be doing to keep up with everyone else. JMO. I hope it helps you decide. Guest guest
Thanks, ! Once I get my list together I'll be sure to post here first! If I'm not reaching for them that often, I really *should* get rid of them. I found Amy's workouts to be fun, but with the speed that she moves I'm just afraid I will not focus enough on form. For high intensity workouts, I tend to do best w/ "drill" like stuff - like Jillian's Burn Fat, Boost Metabolism and even Tony Horton's workouts or the cardio stuff from CLX. The simplicity of the movements and the ability to go at your own pace and not have to "follow along" to keep up with choreogrpahy make those do-able for me even though they are tough and high impact. My issues apparently aren't impact, but uncontrolled movements. How is your back? Hope it isn't giving you too much grief!Donna Subject: Re:Question - should I get rid of my Amy's and Cathe's?To: exercisevideos Date: Wednesday, July 8, 2009, 6:01 AM Donna, I can understand you saying you "should" like your Cathe and Amy workouts, but the way I look at is if you aren't doing them and don't even like them all that well then I say get rid of them and get you some that you will use.
