Elinor and all,

I have finally digested the article and written a brief summary of

the Curcumin trials that I posted during the summer.

Curcumin Overview

A series of consecutive trials were completed on different types and

ages of mice. Researchers found that Curcumin significantly

decreased Schwann cell death in both the PMP22 and MPZ genes. To

additional other important results are: 1) Curcumin improved motor

performance and muscle strength; and 2) Curcumin increased the

number and size of myelinated axons. Curcumin also enables more

protein processing which may also benefit CMT and other inherited

disorders. However, it is dose dependent and positive effects are

reversed after treatment withdrawal. There were no toxic effects

nor did Curcumin affect the growth of animals. The dose of 100 mg

Curcumin by kg of body weight was used. Newborn mice showed better

improvement than adults treated. Researchers conclude more studies

are needed.
