Guest guest
The problem with private e-mails is that the group is denied the basic or advanced knowledge with is included in the post -- or the 'seed' of a concept which might 'sprout' in a year or two. I met up with someone from another list who remembered be from my 'garden of refrigerators' that I had to use in back of one of the houses I was fixing up because the soil was simply 'sand' from an what had been the shore of a VERY old lake bed. It absolutely HAD to be rehabilitated along with the house. They mentioned what an ingenious idea it was - and how it allowed their family to 'farm good soil' rather than the 'rock encased in red clay soil' they had in their yard (Arkansas I think). Who knows WHERE or HOW an idea will come to fruitation? Right now I'm thinking seriously about growing Wasabi from something posted here several years ago. It just took awhile to rattle around and sink into the unconscious from whence the idea was formed nearly fully formed!!! And at current market prices of $50-$150 a pound for low-grade " Oka " Wasabi and from $150-$350 for the higher grade, fresh moving water grown 'Sawa' Wasabi -- it seems a well worth while period of germination. (With Wasabi that expensive, most of what you get here in the states is horseradish with food coloring). and the 'roots' you can buy have had the 'eyes' cut out -- like buying a potato with the intent of forcing growth from the eyes so you don't have to spend the money for a special one in the store, only to find that the 'eyes' that produce other potatoes have been cut out -- that's what you get on the 'open' market now .. . .  So private E-mails might make some really happy, I like to see and follow the discussions in the open, and chose to read not by the subject line which often seldom changes, but by what the person is saying - And, yeah, I, too, have posted private e-mails to a group when I compose in Word - which seems to no longer format like it used to -- and in the cut-n-paste process, I lose track of what goes where -- I've even cross posted in lists by mistake more than once - I figure when others do that I learn even more. But then, I'm addicted to knowledge -- learning it and passing it along -- so I like open e-mails. Unless it really IS private. Then private is necessary. -- paul --  Dream Well.
