  • 3 years later...

I am also prone to ear infections, since childhood. But a few years ago, I

was getting them one after another and no matter what ear drops or used or

how I kept my ear dry I kept getting them. I was about to get an ear

operation, for which the success was if-fy, when i found an ear doctor in

NYC Dr. Portnoy. After getting the infection in check he told me to spray

my ear with boric acid in an atomizer once every two weeks. He told me also

that I didn't have a bacteria infection but a fungal one. Once in check,

the boric acid maintained a fungus-free, dry ear. (PS, I also have had

middle ear problems and a hole in my middle ear, which he thought we should

deal with until I had no ear infections for a while). Well, as crazy as

that may sound, it's worked, with one or two minor relapses (which i

rectified with some cortisone ear drops) for over two, three years.
