How's Everyone Weathering the Swine Flu?

Our doctor is conservative and has decided NOT to give the vaccine. None of us ever get the flu shot, so I hadn't planned on this one anyway, especially after researching it. From the suspected cases we've seen, it hasn't been that bad - much easier than the normal flu viruses, so I haven't been worried. Do yall really think this " epidemic " is worse than ones from the past? Can't say that I do. Maybe it's just this area of the country.

We are NOT getting the vaccine. I am leary of it anyways. (How long has this vaccine been on the market?) We appear to have some immunity to the flu anyways.

My 2 year-old got a weird viral rash after vomitting and fever, but then GONE.

My recommendation is employ good handwashing technique and prevention of germ transmission and stay away from sick people.

My 6 year-old son has an immunodeficiency and attracts viruses like a magnet; however, he has not caught it. (None of us have.)

An added note: at a recent ER visit, the ER MD said the flu tests for H1N1 were unreliable to say the least. Also, CDC has instructed to only test when there are signs and symptoms. Who decides the s/s? Exactly. It is all up to the MD and in my neck of the woods, many people are misdiagnosed with things. MD's claim " flu " when in actuality, it " is " a virus, but NOT flu.

Just some thoughts from the heart, but you won't see me standing in line.

Not sure why? I was more curious as to how everyone was handling being sick, having sick kids etc.Not looking for a political debate. ;-) or even a debate over whether there is a pandemic or epidemic , cause that has already been confirmed by the numbers.

it's sure been the topic of conversation here! Carol in ILMom to , 9 DSMy problem is not how I look. It's how you see me.Join our Down Syndrome information group -

I think that the very topic being posted made it an open ground for debate. IMHO.

I heard a news report that stated that some people who have had an H1N1 type flu

in the past may have immunity to this. In our neck of the woods, I have heard of

people being on life support for this. Also, we were warned to stay away from

the MD's office (by the staff) because of so many in this county with the flu

for the past couple of months. However, we have seemed to avoid it; that is odd

to me because my son catches EVERYTHING.

I am just very thankful.

The Swine Flu is a mutated form including human virus, pig virus, and bird

virus. This is why it is so dangerous.

4 out of the 5 of us were all sick the end of the last school year. Bad sick. But the one that was not sick then, got terribly sick the first month back at school, with a fever that never went down for 4 days. Took him to Children's Hospital the second day and he stayed in bed for the rest. They stopped testing for H1N1 here in Georgia unless you are dying seems like. Which I think is a joke. Even with signs and symptoms they weren't even prescribing Tamiflu :(

, That's what I was wondering too. So far, three members of our family have or had it. Most of the people I know, have had or have it right now.> > > Are there a lot of people on this list that are either sick, or have been sick with the flu?> > Thank God, we have remained well (knock on wood!).> > > >

Here in FL I don't know anyone with the flu. I asked around yesterday at school and no one seems to have it or know anyone with it.Fortunately we are coming to the end of the closed up time in A/C and on to open windows. Unfortunately this is also the time snowbirds bring their germs to FL!etteSubject: [DownSyndromeInfoExchange] Re:How's Everyone Weathering the Swine Flu?To: DownSyndromeInfoExchange Date: Tuesday, October 27, 2009, 11:01 PM

Thank God, we have remained well (knock on wood!).
