These conspiracy theories are really upsetting. I need to find a less politically-motivated group. I just want to talk about my kid! :-) I know I can always just hit the "Delete" key, but I know the messages are there and the anger in them is still getting to me. IDEA, NCLB, the right to be included, right to be covered by Insurance, etc. I never paid any attention hardly to politics till I had my daughter with DS. I read the bill, and I saw Ezekiel Emanuel's comments( the article in his own words.. It scared the hell out of me. I know that all politicians or people in general can spin things in either direction. So I like to go to the source. I know he is thinking out loud.. but thats what he is thinking. He is seriously thinking this stuff. He says it was taken out of context he was just " philosophizing " .. So I got his article direct. He is thinking out loud of what should/could be done if America adopted a universal care plan. ( good news is kids with LD's should be taught to read and reason ) Now I am not naive. I don't believe everything everyone tells me.. But. If a stranger on teh street tells me " I have a gun and I am going to shoot you with it " I am gonna behave as if I believe them. So when a person in government authority in charge of heath care says " health care should be reserved for the non disabled " then I take that as their word. And Momma Bear that I am.. Them's fightin' words. It sounds unbelievable. But there it is in black and white. You can not reduce people down to a price tag. Its just plain wrong. Yes Health care needs reform.. but.. at what price. Right now the " rich " can afford good care, but in the future only the " acceptable " may get good care.
