Yeah, good for you guys!Nora I'm so excited, my son managed to swallow a probiotic pill without biting down on it! I found some really tiny ones, so it wasn't as hard for him to do. This is the first pill he has swallowed. He is really sensitive to textures and his gag reflex is a little overly developed, so this is huge for him. This could really open up some opportunites to expand his supplementation. I'm psyched! Jen

Jen,

Swallowing probiotic pearls was the first step for my 5 year old in

learning how to swallow all pills, and it has been immensely

liberating. I would suggest to keep it at the tiny pill level for a

while until he's totally comfortable, and then introduce something

bigger.

Good Luck!

I second that. Pill swallowing makes life so much easier! No more

worrying about whether your child will like the flavor of a medicine

enough to take it and no more worrying mixing it in to food/drinks.

Hey! My four year old just started swallowing pills the same

way! We use the probiotic Pearls –available at Whole Foods and less

expensive at Vitamin Shoppe. We reinforced him so much that he wants to take

several a day (which is great—can’t get too much of those

probiotics). We plan to expand to small capsules of vitamin c next. My guy did

it on the first try, but my 6 year old (NT, whatever that is) is still

struggling. I guess for some it is intuitive (my son on the spectrum), and for others,

like my daughter, overthinking gets in the way.

Good luck to all!
