Guest guest
Greetings everyone, I wanted to pass this along in case anyone is interested. Know that this is a very time intensive volunteer opportunity, but one that was one of the most rewarding experiences I ever had. Wenonah, NJ To: AACTG Principal Investigators, Study Coordinators, CAB Liaisons, and CAB Members From: Lynn Kidd-Freeman and Steve Arrington, Co-Chairs, AACTG CCG New Members Subcommittee Philip and Gaither, Co-chairs, AACTG Community Constituency Group Date: September 13, 2004 Subj: Autumn 2004 Solicitation for AACTG CCG Applications The AACTG Community Constituency Group (CCG) invites interested individuals to apply for membership. By mid-year, we anticipate five seats will open. To more accurately represent the affected communities, we are especially interested in applicants who represent the following communities: HIV+ Latinos, HIV+ Women, members of US and non-US Community Advisory Boards, and AACTG study participants. We welcome all applicants. CCG members provide community input to the development, conduct and management of HIV research by the Adult AIDS Clinical Trials Group. If selected, you will be a member of protocol (study) teams, assisting with community perspective throughout the life of the studies. You also will become a member of one or more committee/groups of the AACTG. As such, CCG members volunteer more than 15 hours per week through participating in telephone conference calls and working through large volumes of e-mails. Communications are in English. Additionally, traveling to at least 3 face-to-face conferences (5-7 days each) is also required annually. CCG membership requires a significant commitment of time and energy, as well as a basic knowledge of HIV disease and treatment. The CCG application is available on the AACTG Website (http://aactg.s-3.com/ccginfo.htm); or from Allegra Cermak, CCG/CAB Coordinator, AACTG Operations Center, at or , or "acermak@...". The application contains the Community Constituency Group Member Job Description. AACTG CCG members commit to a three-year term with an option for an additional year. APPLICATIONS SUBMITTED BY October 30, 2004 to the CCG/CAB Coordinator, Allegra Cermak, will be processed in time for successful applicants to attend the Adult AIDS Clinical Trials Group 2004 Winter Meeting (December 4-7, 2004 in Baltimore, land). Completed applications may be e-mailed (preferred), faxed, or mailed. All applications are reviewed and applicants will be interviewed by members of the CCG New Member Subcommittee. Applicants will be notified by e-mail on the status of their applications in mid-November. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact Allegra Cermak, CCG/CAB Coordinator, as indicated above or by mail at: AACTG Operations Center, Social & Scientific Systems, Inc., 8757 Georgia Avenue, Silver Springs, MD 20910-3714.
