Guest guest Posted June 9, 2009 Report Share Posted June 9, 2009 Hi Everyone, First, thank you all for you kind words about my decision to have my cat put to sleep. The "appointment' has been scheduled for Thursday morning. I'm pretty much at peace with the decision b/c his quality of life is suffering and he isn't getting better. That said, I'm wondering what to do about my DD. We have talked 'in concept" about having Shadow put to sleep - she seems to understand that he is not getting better and is not living a good life . But, I'm not sure if I should tell her in advance of the appointment or just tell her after the fact that Shadow passed away. She is 5 1/2. On the one hand, I hate to just spring it on her that he is gone when she gets home from school - but on the other hand, I know a huge part is "dreading' the appointment and counting down the days. I think I'm leaning towards telling her - maybe Wed night so she can say her good-byes? But not 100% sure what I'll end up doing. Any advice?
