Guest guest
Hi Steve. My brother just talked to my Dr in Denver today about this. He said it wouldn't be a bad idea to try it out. So I am going to get some this week. I guess it is supposed to also give the joints additional help, since this disease attacks the joints. I am a bit tired so sorry if this isn't making any sense. He did say that you need to take it every day to get the benefits of it not when you feel like it. Have you started it yet? I did find out that it is okay to take with the MTX, as that was my main concern as so much counteracts with the MTX. I will keep you informed of how I do with it. He did also mention a couple of other things to try as well. I will have to ask my brother the name of them again. He is here visiting from S. Carolina and went with me to the Dr's to ask questions and learn more about this as well. Take care Kelley in Colorado
Guest guest
Hi Kelley, Yes, thats right, it needs to be taken every day as cartilage takes a long while to rebuild. The question is this: If this illness destroys cartilage and then we go into remission - could Gluc Sulphate reverse the damage which the illness has made? I know Gluc Sulph is mainly used in trials for Osteo ... but, doesnt this illness create Osteoarthritis eventually? Steve -----Original Message-----From: Kelleyak31@... Guest guest
Hi Doug & Yes I think its down to the individual .. one thing to remember though is that I also take Ginger Root which helps to stop any heartburn/nausea - I have it all planned out you see I am not suggesting you should take what I am taking as I understand we shouldnt do it on this group which I understand. However, if you would like to know exactly what I am taking and why it helps me, email me directly. Regards, Steve -----Original Message-----From: Doug Sampson Sent: 10 November 2004 08:29To: Stillsdisease Subject: Re: Glucosamine Sulphate Carole tried Glucosamine Sulphate for a time but they caused her to suffer from reflux (severe heartburn) and she had to stop taking them. According to her doc it is a known side effect which some people are susceptible to. Doug (UK) Re: Glucosamine Sulphate Hi Steve. My brother just talked to my Dr in Denver today about this. Guest guest
Hi Steve I talked to my brother tonight, he is a vet anesthesiologist. I asked him about your question. He did state that he has heard that the Glucosamine can help to repair damage already made by this illness. The one he told me to try is Glucosamine with M.S.M. There is another one that he asked the Dr about. Hyluronate Acid. I guess this is used a lot in veterinary medicines. He said that is comes in oral form either pills or liquid. But it does help a lot in people. He has a friend who takes this one and it helps with her arthritis and cuts down a lot on the pain and swelling that she gets. He wasn't for sure about the exact spelling. Said that you can also get this one at a health food store line GNC. He did say that both the Glucosamine and this Hyluronate Acid are both totally natural. My Dr in Denver did say that there shouldn't be any interaction with the MTX. Dave did say to do one or the other. Not to take both at the same time. He said that the Hyluronate Acid is probably the better of the two just depends on how you feel. He also said that this one also helps to repair damage already done. He wants me to look on the internet and check out both of them and then to decide which one I feel is for the best. So I will let you know what I find if you would like. Hope this helps some. Talk to you soon Kelley in Colorado
