Guest guest
> recognize them purely for cosmetic reasons. The comments about the teeth etc are interesting to me. Dad doesn't like to wear his teeth at all. Puts them in for hamburgers and such. and the click a lot. He wont use denture cream because he is afraid of choking. As we were pulling out of the driveway on the way to his " clam digging " on Wednesday, he pulled down the visor mirror in the car, for one last " vanity check " . First of all you need to know that I have NEVER seen my dad do such a thing... I didn't even know he knew there was a mirror there. Next thing he says, " whoops .. wait a minute I forgot my teeth " . I got to run in and get them from the top right hand side of the dresser drawer. The things we do. (he was definitely the cutest guy there ...) Kate if he hasn't already tried it get some SEA BOND for his teeth. It is not a paste it is a denture adhesive wafer that you can cut to fit individules teeth. There is both upper and lower, blue box is lower, green box is upper. If your dad decides to try them YOU read the instructions, several people I have talked to that didn't like them wern't putting them in right. They should be in the store with the other denture adhesives. Keep up the good work you are doing a great job with your dad. Guest guest
> has anyone had to have all their teeth removed? Hello Elly, I have had all of my teeth removed, My uppers were all pulled back in 98, and in oct I had the rest of my bottom teeth pulled. Both times mine were done in the hospital, under Genaral anestetic. This is partly due to my jaw just doesn't open up all that well anymore and also due to IV Antibotics I have to go on before and after any type of surgery due to my replaced joints. It has been just over a month now and my gums are healing pretty good. My oral surgeon didn't contact my rheumy that I know of. Just make sure they know what you are on. My oral surgeon also gave me Decadron after the surgery was done. It is another type of steroid. But I guess it helps with healing. As you probably all ready know that pred can slow down the healing. This shot was suppose to not let that happen. Even though I don't take pred every day, the last time I had a pred pack was about 6 months ago. But he felt it was necassary that I still got the Decadron. Well that is about all I have for you. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask. Guest guest
-Hi Elly, My oral surgeon spoke with my Rhuemy prior to extracing 2 teeth, one being an impacted molar so I think it would be wise to have them discuss a much more complicated procedure. I had to do i.v. antibiotics pre and post, that wasn't fun but all in all it went quite well. I wish you luck, I cringe at the thought though dear... Guest guest
Elly, With something like this I would suggest that you talk to your rheumy about it as well as getting your dentist to talk to him. Some dentists can be a little arrogant and think they know it all - I've learnt not to leave my wellbeing to others where possible... Have been looking at the files section of the vit k yahoo group (thanks Sara) and my interpretation is that vit k isn't toxic because it doesn't accumulate in the body unlike the other fat soluble vits., but am still worried at what level clotting problems may occur - or indeed if they would occur? Had always understood vit k to do with helping blood clot. Guest guest
Hi Janet The Blue Ice Royal caps smell lovely, kind of like butter I guess. I've only ever swallowed them but think they would probably taste okay. They're kind of hard inside (I refrigerate them), so you might try warming them and trying to extract the oil. The unflavoured CLO tastes really awful, the only thing my kids have ever refused. We use the orange flavoured one, and they take it okay but I still think it smells bad (I've never tried it myself, not brave enough!) Try googling activated alumina filter, might be cheaper than reverse osmosis for removing fluoride. Not sure if it's available in the UK. Are you definitely in a fluoridated area? Most of UK isn't. The tooth soap is the only thing I've found without any additional ingredients. It tastes a little like soap but not too bad, my kids use it without any complaint. It's expensive but lasts a very long time as you only use a few drops. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > This is a long shot but has anyone any experience of dental flurosis?
