I am worn out! It is after midnight and will not go to sleep. He has been

up moving around in his room since being put to bed at 8. He will keep saying

he is scared, and then that he wants to give ne a kiss and he misses me. I went

in there a couple times and Lexie did earlier when she was still up. very

rarely has trouple sleeping at all. I don't know what is going on with him,

other then he is trying to get out here to lay on the couch with me which he

can't do that. If I fall asleep, he will be all over the place and getting into

things and trying to find a way to get of the house etc! I wonder what is going

on with hin? ):

Thanks Lori for the suggestion! has been pretty good with sleeping for the most part. Every now and then we go through something like this with sleep but not to much. Anyhow, the thing is...if I lay down with , he would expext that all the time since he has OCD as well, and that we don't want ya know? So I don't think that would be wise. I did this once, and for nights after that, he would scream and melt down because he thought I should be in there with him in bed. Thanks for youe suggestions! Stacie, What about laying in his bed with him? I have had to do this often with my son. He usually will fall right to sleep then. I'll admit that sometimes I fall asleep before him, but he will just lay next to me. I understand how you feel about being awake. My son, y has this wonderful routine where he will sleep for about a month or so with no problems. Goes to bed around 9pm & is up by 6am. Then his sleeping routine changes to bed around 11pm & up by 2-3am. He then won't fall asleep again until 5:30ish & he leaves for school at 7:30am. This routine will last about 3 weeks. During that time of little sleep, I just have to lay with him. He's got a tv with vcr/dvd combo & usually will fall asleep during a movie. Wish I could help with something more. Not very often, but sometimes Karac has a night like that. I don't

know what causes it. Maybe it is something he has heard or seen

on TV. Maybe it is something he ate. As Karac says, "Who Knows" LOL.

Hopefully it won't become a habit. Love and blessings, Pat K

Oh, no, three nights is too long. That becomes a habit. What things

have you tried? hot Epson Salt bath? later bed time? Colder room allowing

for heavy covers? fan to cut out other noises? small carborhydrate snack?

prayer request for peaceful nights sleep? a relaxing message? an Ibuprophen in

case of some little pain? Sometimes Karac tries too hard

to go to sleep and it helps him if I tell him not to worry about going to sleep,

but to just quietly rest and think happy thoughts.

Those are all the things that I have tried that have helped. I can't think of anything

else. I know it is so hard when you miss your sleep. God grants sleep to those

he loves and I know he loves you. I'll pray you and sleep tonight or at least get

some rest. Love and blessings, Pat K ,

I know you probably looked at this first - but did any of his meds change? The

thing that caught my eye was " he misses you " . When I go on high doses of

prednisone, I get homesick and don't want to leave the house. I was working the

first time I went on it and it was terrible for me - I would get so homesick I

would have panic attacks. After they got my dose down to a maintenance dose,

that symptom went away.

But I know Maddie goes through nights like that. The only thing I have been

able to link for her is whether or not she is physically active enough - she

likes to lay around and do nothing. We had to put in her IEP that she is to get

20 minutes physical activity (walking, playing, not just sitting and reading)

and they have to give her 20 minutes in the afternoon. We got her an indoor

trampoline to help and we have an indoor treadmill that he walks on for 10

minutes in the evening. If she is not physically tired, I have a terrible time

putting her down.

Just some suggestions - I hope you get some sleep soon. I know when I'm tired,

I'm not as patient with her as I want to be:)

Stacie,

How does one tell if you have OCD when you have autism? I've had people ask if

my son has anything else but I've had such trouble with Drs. wanting to label

him anything to begin with. It took until he almost 4yrs to get diagnosis for

autism & I started requesting at 18mos for them to test for that. Sorry I

couldn't be of more help...Hope goes to sleep for you better tonight.

Hi Lori! I don't know! We just went to his 1st psych appointment a few months ago and she said he has OCD and ADHD as well. We didn't get a dx for for Autism even though I knew, till he was 5 1/2. So...I know how that is. Thanks!StacieSent via BlackBerry by AT&TFrom: "lorijm1117" Date: Mon, 18 May 2009 16:07:06 -0000To: <AutismBehaviorProblems >Subject: Re: UGH!!! Help me please!!!
