Guest guest
Hi. I'll jump in and if I'm wrong others will correct me. YOu use the coir to grow microgreens and stuff like pea shoots and sunflower seeds. I just put up 5 more batches of sunflower seeds this morning. We'll be eating this all the time so I want to have some growing. You don't use the coir (bricks) for brassicas that you put in a sprouting device. No need to. They will grow either in a whole bunch (think mason jar), or the cup that Sprout people sells) or the sprouting trays. The sprouts will grow straight up. But if you do the microgreens, you use either soil or a soil less medium (like coir) and you put down the soil, sprinkle the seeds and (depending on who you speak to), you add a weight and cover it for 24 hours, or you add some more soil over the seeds and just leave it out. I'm doing both to see which is the better method. I LOVE experimenting. Melody > > > > > > > > > > It doesn't take much either... I was ordering my pea sprouts, sunflowers and sprout master then I see all the discussion on Coir (or the coconut bricks).... HELP!!!!! If I use the sproutmaster do I still need bricks? Or is that in place (say if I was getting into microgreens and hydroponics) > > > > Debbie in NJ > > ----- Original Message ----- > > > > > >
Guest guest
Debbie, You only need the coir or other soil less medium to grow micro greens. You don't use it in any sprouter that is a water only device. ew Still confused... Saw no replies.. will look at some other postings to see if maybe answers were there Debbie > > > > > It doesn't take much either...
