Guest guest
I hope all of you who are in support of the proposed Healthcare reform realize that Medicare and Medicaid are really not working. Because they pay so poorly the rest of us who have private insurance or no insurance are paying dearly to compensate. Now when we become a single payer system who is going to make up the difference. Rationalized care is an outcome and these decision will be made by the government not you and your physician. Also the proposed salaries of physcians is going to greatly be impacted with no incentives for specializing so what physcian is going to work their butt of for little compensation that is dictated by the government. There will be a shortage of specialist. Right now in Canada I have hear that 1in7 or 1in10 do not have a primary/general doctor (shortages) and you need one to be able to enter the system and get referred to specialist. Also because it isn't cost effective to do everything in Canada they send patients to the US for treatment. Now where will they be able to go? I really hate to see our system ruined...yes it isn't perfect but our country really isn't ready for a single payer system Those of you who believe that you can keep your private insurance are believing false statements....this is just away to phase in the single payer sytem.Sherry Mom to Evan(9), Olivia(8), and (4)* "Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new."--Albert Einstein
Guest guest
True.. and what scares me the most.. is the Health advisor to Obama said " Health care should be reserved for the non disabled! Dementia was specifically mentioned.. well aren't our kids at high risk for early onset?? http://www.nypost.com/seven/07242009/postopinion/opedcolumnists/deadly_doctors_180941.htm Say What??!! Guest guest
People get so wrapped up in the perception and trust of what they assume is in the bill. They do what so many senators and congressmen do, don't read what your getting into. If they actually read the bill, there are many points, just like the one listed, that should have anyone who has a elderly or disabled family member very worried about this health care bill. If people cannot take time to read the bill, and understand it, then they should not speak up about how wonderful it is. Simply because they know not what they are talking about. If it sounds too good to be true, it is folks. I totally agree with . Understand what you support before you support it. If you have read the entire bill, understand it, and still support it, so be it. We totally disagree. Guest guest
I am forwarding (with permission) a message posted on another board as well as a private message about this issue-Long, but enlightening: this was posted on another list after posted her message listing some of her concerns about the healthcare bill. ******************************** Yes, this is NOT good. I have lived with " socialized " health carein the Netherlands for 4 years, while living abroad. And, keep in mind, we have GREAT " private " insurance to deal with their system. But, guess what, at the beginning, mid, or end of the day, it doesn't much matter. It is a mindset of they way they do business. They kind of pick and choose and guess to see if they belive you are sick. I have noticed, when living in the States they run more lab/blood work to see what you have once they think you have some sort of infection or somthing. You go, they say, .... go home, give it a week, see if you feel better. Well,of course if you are sick, you don't get better. Perhaps, something as " simple " as a sinus infection, you go back 5-6 x's. And once, they never did ever give me an antibiotic (easier to buy pot here than get an antibiotic which I think is completely absurd; when you are sick and need it). Anyway, I got very sick as the simple sinus infection spread more throughout my body/blood type of thing. Anyway, you DON " T want any government running your health care, I am telling you all. Once they get control of it, wreck it more, we will never get it back. Just my opnion of course, but I have lived one of these sytems first hand. And it worries me when it comes to little children, those with special needs, and the older people as well. Never mind, all the rest of us! I would definately vote NO, but again that's my opnion. Good luck on spreading the news, I will do my share to spread this. If you thought it is bad that the employer/insruance covers under the plans, just wait until the government gets ahold and plays God and tells you who gets treatment to live and who doesn't. Also, you will have problems being seen by Dr.'s once they start cutting (or restricting thier pay). They won't want to work harder for the same amount of pay, so they will work less. I have seen this here, they figure if I am capped at say, $250,000 a year, then I will only see what I feel like. Whereas, when you actually get the $ that you have worked for, you are more likley to work harder. I hope that made sense. That's the way it is in Canada too and in the U.K. I think too. There is a VERY good reason that people from these countries pay a lot of money to fly into the States to get proceudres done when they really are sick and need care. Oh gosh, I am depressed righting this. You bettter all call, e-mail, and write your Senators and vote NO. It is about to get worse in the States if this bill actually passes with all of that stuff in there. The only consolation I have if it passes, is that I have been learning how that kind of system will work for the past 4 years, and fighting something so simple as getting an antibiotic for a sinus infection when really sick. Ok, I have to stop on this one, since it is off topic as well. But, you should look at this closely and heed what the bill says. Thanks again for posting it, since I am out of the U.S. and not following at closely as I should. Although, my husband did mention some what is in the proposed bill. YIKES AGain! ****************** this is from the private message: ((((((((((((((((((((((( when someone gets up and says it will be SO great. It is an " odd " thing to live here too (you are a foreigner in a foreign land; albeit friendly). But, just today, we needed some blood work for my son. And we get to the hospital at 8:00 and it opened at 7:30 - 5:00 (which by the way for blood taking time here is quite gernerous) and they were starting to tell me that we could not get that kind of blood test taken on a " Thursday " only on a Monday and a Wednesday. At " most " blood taking places, there is only 1 hour of time, like 1x a week, so for instance on Mondays (only) and only from 9-10. NO JOKE! Also, to make appts, talk to someone about billing issue, or anything. SAME THING.... 1 hour on one day a week, so can only talk to Dr. from 11-12 on Tuesday. Or only call to make an appt. between 9:30 - 11:00 (and of course everyone else is trying to get their call in this window of time too). UGGH!! This may be useful to to post too The problem being, is that the service level goes WAY DOWN. The people are NOT motivated to do " extra " work and or even their job really as they put a Cap pay here on everything. In theory, that sounds good, however what they don't tell you, is that if a Dr. is good, hardworking, sees AS MANY patients as he could say in U.S. and he makes $1,000,000 (or whatever amount) and if the gov't caps it at $300,000 -- guess what your wait time just increased 3x's longer (if you can even get referred to see this guy as they have loads of huisarts (GP) would be like a PA to " screen " out people and they " guess " if they think you need to go for additional treatment and/or give you a drug. UGGH!!! But, again, I beleive that people should now. And guess what, the rich people and politicians will surely get around these kind of " wait " problems by buying their way out. Oh, Kathy, it just isn't SO great! Fortunately, the sinus thing is the worst problem we have had here, but it is SCARY. Because I always think, what if we are really sick, I don't want to die over here and not get treatment. We did get my son's ear tubes here, I was scared to death, but he wasn't speaking at 3 and we later found out from ST that he wasn't hearing right, so we did it as we thought it was important (it went just fine) and one other excellent thing here, is that they DONT have the MRSA (baterial bugs that won't die) rampant here like in the UK and the States. They have managed, but only because they " highly limit " the use of antibiotics. So, I guess it is a trade off. I don't know. But, I know they will " limit " who gets what. It seems like a matter of time. Good luck spreading the word on the site. I also know of a friend of mine who lives in Washington State and she knows many people from Canada come down for treatment becuase they are on 1 year waiting lists for surgeries, chemo, etc. Good luck .. it's too bad that more Americans " don't " actually read the bills that their elected officials are voting on and call to tell them NO to these types of things. end of quoted messages ************************************************** kathyR
