Guest guest
My friends now think I really am nuts!! The title of the story was " Foods that can make you sick " . Sprouts were number 10. Here's the paragraph re: Sprouts -------------------------------------------------------------- " While sprouts are practically the poster child for healthy food, they can also be vulnerable to bacterial contamination. The seeds used to produce the sprouts can be contaminated in the field, and water and warm growing conditions that encourage germination can also boost bacterial growth. The FDA and CDC recommend that the elderly, young children, and those with weakened immune systems avoid eating raw sprouts. Guest guest
Hmm, no surprise. Methinks I'm among the elderly but my immune system is fine and I will continue to eat sprouts as I know others will too! As Roseanne Roseannadanna used to say " Well, Jane, it just goes to show you, it's always something! If it's not one thing, it's another! " At least that's the first quote to come to mind to succinctly address this, LOL! So, if it's not this, it would be something else to thwart or discredit sprouting, don'cha know? Guest guest
Thea, Thank you for that wonderful memory. Another quote I loved was, " Never mind " . ew RE: Look what was on Yahoo this morning Hmm, no surprise. Guest guest
Yep, I love the " Never mind " quote equally as much. Both of them are apt quotes worthy of using in many situations! Although there's been some good SNL players since the 70's, I would say that first group (Curtin, Radner, Belushi, Ackroyd, et.al) are unparalleled! Glad you liked the brief trip down memory lane. T. Guest guest
I am not sure what that does. The things go up and down the sides and make a lot of noise. Does that water the trays? Does it just work for a short while to water them? Carolyn Wilkerson  ________________________________ To: sproutpeople Sent: Sunday, March 11, 2012 8:47 PM Subject: Re: Look what was on Yahoo this morning  gonna get me two of these...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHbuVCtWTwI & feature=related<http://www.youtube.co\ m/watch?v=vHbuVCtWTwI & feature=related> Re: Look what was on Yahoo this morning > > I guess alfalfa is a type of grass as is wheat grass. i don't know if I'd like wheat grass, but I sure love the alfalfa sprouts. Guest guest
3rd cousin, twice removed. Re: Look what was on Yahoo this morning I always think of alfalfa being used for animal food and I figured it was a thing like wheat grass or some big tall stuff. With sprouts I never have seen them grown as I eat them before then. i wouldn't know an alfalfa field if I saw one. Thanks for telling me it is related to the pea family. Sure are tiny seeds and I'd never have thought of peas as a relative. Carolyn ________________________________
Guest guest
Are you into genealogy? Only ones I know who has an idea of what a cousin, twice removed would be. Guest guest
I do a bit of geneology and I have to really think about it to figure out how many removed, etc. and who is 2nd or 3rd cousin. First cousin once removed is often referred to as 2nd cousin but isn't. I was born in country but moved to city when i was young. But come from country people.
