Guest guest
Look I actually changed the subject line! (And the Earth didn't stop rotating on it's axis.) Mel, here is a down and dirty way to always know the cardinal directions. You need to know what time it is and the sun needs to be shining. Wait until about two pm go out and stand in the sun. Notice where your shadow is, turn so your shadow in on your right side (if it was morning you would turn so your shadow was on your left side). You are now facing North and your backside is facing South. West is left and East is right. The closer it is to noon (Solar Noon is one pm for people in DST) the shorter your shadow will be, early morning or later afternoon is best when you are first starting to learn to get your bearings because your shadow is longer at those times. There you have it, no magnets, no needles, no bother. The downside is that if you are anything like me you are going to start noticing shadows anytime the sun is shining. Guest guest
I'm reading your post and I'm falling off of my chair. I'm going to notice shadows now. I haven't done that in 50 years. But I'll do it. And then I'll be like Pan who lost his shadow. Remember ?? And how on earth do you know these things about shadows, etc? My goodness you know so many things. I feel like I am in first grade compared to what you know. I am duly impressed. lol Melody > > > Okay, I shall re-experment and come back later on in the day and video you all of my findings. > > > > How exciting.
