I so agree with you here, Melody. Eat whole, nutrient-dense foods and

forget about the man-made, tweaked, fiddled-with, and generally messed up

'non-foods' that are advertised routinely everywhere!!

I need to check on that book you mentioned too!

Hi. I am reading a book titled DEEP NUTRITION by Shanahan. It says

basically the exact same diet that Western Botanicals listed.

I've been following this way of eating for some time. I'm not up to 100% but

I'll get there.

Worst thing we ever did as humans was to go " fat free " , diet this, light

this and that, and zero carbs.

Our bodies will cooperate when we feed it the good stuff and not stuff that

can be nuked etc.

Just my humble opinion.

Works for me.

Sure they had ovens, like the beehive ovens.  They were outside and you had a

fire in them and took the fire out and then put the bread in to bake or whatever

was baking and  you watered down the wooded door and then stuck it in there

Might have been made from clay or bricks but that was from clay as well.  .

They had pots over wood fires on a bracket they could pull off.  It was sort of

like camping now.  Are you going to try the grasshoppers and honey that

the Baptist ate in the desert?  I saw it on dinner impossible and they molded

them in jello I think it was, but not for me.  Covering ants in chocolae, I

might be able to do, but they didn't have chocolate in those times as that came

from Mexico and was separate from the Middle East of course.  Surprising what

all had though as they made steel and bronze.  Didn't know about the

steel until not too long ago.  But later on the Damascus steel was the big

thing.

You know, I might just take my own advice and go and take out my bible and look

at what people actually ate as meals. Of course they roasted it over a spit and

didn't have ovens (or did they?). But they had plenty of fresh fruit and

vegetables and meat without any antibiotics or additives.

I wonder what those days were actually like.

Think nuts and honey and Baklava.  Sure would like a piece of it tonight.

Think I may browse the kitchen.  I had soup and some fruit and a piece of

cheese and a couple crackers but still not quite satisfied.  Don't have my

alfalfa yet for a pita sandwich.

They had bowls and utensils and ae with fingers too.  Figs and cheese were

available and those are good!!!!  Dates.  Had eggs and flour.  When it says

corn in the Bible, it mean grain, not what we call corn or maize.   Pita bread

and meats could go on that and cheese, like Feta.  Had milk and yogurt and

soups.  Had hummus I imagine.  Those foods are all still being used.  Lamb

was used quite often. Don't know why they didn't have cattle farms but guess the

desert might be harder to have a large herd of cattle but sheep can eat scrubby

stuff.  My  husband likes lamb but it is not a favorite with me and i only

like it with mint jelly.

Hi all!!

I think we should all go and take out our bibles and look up recipes. (no one

had any processed anything in those days). If you grew it or got it from someone

who grew it, or if you milked it, or got it out of the well, WELL!! that's what

you ate and drank. And wine was plentiful right?

If it was good enough for the people back in bible days, then it's good enough

for me. Oh, I just came home from ShopRite.

Lordy, all those prepacked food. TONS of it. And all the microwave meals, the

Lean Cuisine and the Weight Watchers meals, of course I tried them but they all

tasted the same to me, and I haven't touched them in over 10 years.

And what really got me was the people buying baby food. Some woman bought two

cases. The first thing that popped in my mind was " Why the heck doesn't she get

a Vitamix, she would save money in the long run " She had 7 children and would

have more. Why buy cases of baby food when you can make it fresh.

And the chips and the dips etc. And the poor Organic Section. Such a small

section. BUT I GOT MY TEMPEH!!!!

lol
