Well, it's 11:44 p.m. this evening and I was just in the backyard with all the

Italian people. These people (some are over 80) are terrified of what's going to

happen tomorrow and Sunday.

I am taking the computer from the older gentleman who lives downstairs and I'll

bring it up to my first floor apartment.

They are going to their daughter's home to ride out the hurricane. They know

what they will face when they return.

Scary stuff happening here in Brooklyn, NY.

Keep praying.

Thanks for the updates, Melody - you are our woman on the scene and I, for

one, appreciate your checking in with us as things proceed. Certainly lots

of prayers are going up for sure! Anxiously anticipating your next report

when you are able so we'll know all is well.

Best wishes to you, Melody! Sounds like you are well on top of it all. When we

have a storm pending, I fill ziplock bags full of water and pack as many as I

can into my freezer and fridge. If the power goes out, they first serve as ice

packs to keep everything cold, but then can be used for drinking or bathing

water as they melt. My prayers and thoughts are with you. I have family there

in NYC, Albany, Washington DC, and right here on the coast in NC, so I am

following this very closely. Good luck!

Thanks Thea:

The hurricane hasn't even hit yet and we've been deluged with these Bands of

Rain (as they call them). I aleady went out to breakfast at 7 a.m. Came home,

went downstairs, got the guys computer, modem, monitor, all cables, etc. Brought

them up to my house. My stuff won't get wet. We are not in a zone that is to be

evacuated. I just take precautions because I don't know what else to do.

Actually we are more afraid of what will happen AFTER the hurricane. No power,

no electricity, no water, etc.

That is what I am prepared for.

And I did tape up my windows and secured the front storm door and put

waterproofing all around my door.

Hey, better safe than sorry.

Thanks to everybody. I just uploaded a video (at least I think I did). I'm so

bonkers today with all the preparation for this stupid hurricane. Let me go and

check and see if I uploaded it.

Hey? I'd like to hear in two weeks, after you've stored stuff, if they really do

the job.

:

the ziplock bag thing filled with water and then put in freezer IS THE BEST

THING I HAVE EVER HEARD.

Doing it now.

And I made a video of my brand new Debbie Myers Green boxes.

Here you go!!

I definitely would try something relatively highly perishable to really

test the product well. Berries sound like a good option!

Then berries it shall be. Have to wait until Monday because Irene is ready to

hit NYC.

They say there will be a wall of water (two rivers will meet) in NYC.

OH My God!!!

Mel,

No I don't usually store anything for two weeks either. Pack some strawberries

in your usual manner. The pack some in the green boxes and make a comparison.

Then tell us the difference, if any.

Thanks

Oh, that's good. I'll use ziplock bags, oso fresh, and the green stuff. I'll put

berries in each one and check in one week.

Sounds like a plan.

AND OF COURSE, I'LL MAKE A VIDEO.
