Guest guest
Melody (and all), I thought about you this a.m. while fixing breakfast and watching TV at the same time. I saw a commercial for a product called 'Eggie' (pretty sure that's the name of it). It's a holder shaped just like an egg and you crack a whole egg in it and then submerse the whole thing in boiling water and voila, a boiled egg without shell!! Can't remember if you're vegan or not, but it looked like a pretty cool concept. And the price was only $10 for six of them, plus getting six free!! I almost went for it, then realized I really don't eat boiled eggs that much!! Also thought of you during Memorial Day weekend when my husband and I went to the mall together (a very rare event as he seldom darkens their doors!) and I was surprised to see that there was a new 'As Seen onTV' store there!! Went in and browsed. Saw the Salad Chef you mentioned - I think it was around $45 or so. Saw some other gadgets there too, of course, but ended up not buying anything. Was hoping they'd have the Aerogarden, but they didn't. Maybe it was never 'seen on TV', LOL and so wouldn't be included. And last but not least, I wanted to thank you for giving me the impetus to resurrect my Flip camera. I actually used it last week to record my baby canaries and tried to send the video to you via the group as an attachment but it wouldn't let me because I think it was too large (also the group may not take attachments). I think the video is too large and I don't think I can create a link to it without putting it on YouTube which I'm not inclined to do right now. Perhaps another video later on I might. Anyway, it's really cool to use. Can't remember if yours is on batteries or not - mine is. Wish it were a rechargeable one, but it is an older version. I have an hour of recording time on it. Don't worry - I won't be recording any sprout making with it - you're the only Sprout Video Queen around here, LOL!! Plus, I'm sure I have nothing to record regarding sprouts that you haven't already covered . . . and more!! I'm completely and hopelessly behind on group posts - will try to catch up some this weekend, but have really been out of the loop! I've got 6500 items in my inbox - yikes!!! Guest guest
Hi Thea: If you ever do decide to put a video on youtube with your flip it's SO easy. They have an UPLOAD OPTION that you just click on the word ONLINE and you get a choice of putting it on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube (and there's one other option which I forget). Anyway, any video that you put on youtube cannot exceed a 10 minute length. If, let's say you try and upload an 11 minute video, your Flip software will let you know and you'll then have to trim the video. Did you know that you can trim videos with the Flip software? Anyway, glad you had fun on your As Seen On Tv Expedition. Take care Melody > > Melody (and all), > > I thought about you this a.m. while fixing breakfast and watching TV at the > same time. Guest guest
Giggled at " healthy eggs from a carton " on the video on the site. - but it does look good. I always end up tearing my eggs up getting them out of the shell. Did have better luck this time with steaming them. Guest guest
Haven't tried it and have no desire to do so. Just another thing to wash and clutter up my kitchen drawers! I seldom have difficulty peeling hard-cooked eggs, and I know just how to cook them so they are perfect. Once you figure that out, the rest is easy. Poaching is also easy - took me years to figure that one out, but now I make poached eggs that would rival anything a pro could put out. The problem with hard-cooked eggs not peeling cleanly is usually that the egg is too fresh. They should be at least a few days old to cook and peel easily.  JMHO. If the gadget appeals to you...go for it! I have to say that when I first saw it, I was pretty impressed. But in my case...reason prevailed. (It doesn't always.)  Hahaha, Peggy   To: sproutpeople Sent: Saturday, June 11, 2011 5:56 PM Subject: Re: Another new gadget for MELODY to check out and the Flip! Guest guest
This eggie system thing is right up my alley. I could do all those eggs or egg whites or egg substitute, boil them, pop them out, put them in one of my oso fresh containers or in a zip lock bag and I'd have eggs whenver I wanted them. No peeling?? THAT'S GREAT. I went to their official site and you have to buy a set of 2, (that's how they get you, double the processing and handling). I mean for Ten bucks and s & h, well, I don't mind, but you have to pay extra shipping and handling? No, not me. So I'll try and see if one of my local places carry this. Maybe the 99 cents store?? ROFL. Can you imagine me and Alan sitting at the table and I have my Flip and I say " Alan, I'd like to show you my latest gadet " . He'll throw me out of the house!!!! ROFL. Guest guest
Well, I was going to try and buy one of those EGGIES things. I went online and found a website that gave opinions of various items. And some people were discussing the EGGIES. One of them wrote the following: " God knows what carcinogens might be lurking in that plastic, which could leach out when the Eggie gets immersed in hot water and contaminate the cooking egg " I NEVER thought of that. I will NOT be purchasing this, thank you very much. lol Melody
Guest guest
I agree that the S & H (which is NEVER refunded, and if you return the item you have to pay it TWICE!!!) is what keeps Internet shopping in control. I'm always a really happy camper when i can get something for " free shipping " , even when I know they are likely making that up in the price of the item.  I do wonder what Alan would say about the Eggie!  And Melody, for heaven's sake, girl, you can cook as many eggs as you want beforehand and keep them in your Oso Fresh container. You are savvy enough to do this w/o this oh-so-cute gadget!!  Peggy To: sproutpeople Sent: Saturday, June 11, 2011 6:56 PM Subject: Re: Another new gadget for MELODY to check out and the Flip!  This eggie system thing is right up my alley. Guest guest
Peggy; That's what I do now. I cook about 10 eggs. Cool them in a bowl of cold water. Put them in another bowl and store in fridge. As I need them, I take them out and I peel them. I have a question. Once they are finished boiling and they have cooled, can I peel them AND THEN PUT THEM IN MY OSO FRESH?? So I don't have to peel them one at a time? My friend said " You can't store peeled hard boiled eggs because they will stink up the fridge " So can I do this? I would like to do this Melody
Guest guest
I don't do that because I can peel them so easily as I need them - perhaps 3 mins altogether for a dozen eggs (unless, of course, I run into one of those troublesome ones!) For me, I'd rather keep them in their shells, but not so they wouldn't smell up the fridge. I just think that keeps them fresher than taking them out of their natural defense system - even if they are hard-cooked. MHO as usual.  You know, another gadget for peeling eggs goes on your faucet and you put the egg in the other end and turn the water on. The pressure is supposed to push the egg right out. I've never seen it actually working, but you might check around - maybe there's a video on YouTube.  Peggy To: sproutpeople Sent: Saturday, June 11, 2011 7:29 PM Subject: Re: Another new gadget for MELODY to check out and the Flip!  Peggy; That's what I do now. Guest guest
Well, if it's like the Japanese, yes, you will saute almost all the veges  and they usually use toasted sesame oil, which is divine, and the cabbage cut up in small pieces and the garlic (or ginger) cut up into tiny pieces  or get one of their graters for the ginger  shreds it so small  what you end up with is a wonderful blend of tastes, nothing overpowering the rest. The Japanese family living in my trailer will frequently send me dinner from whatever they're having  last night it was eggplant and garlic on tofu. Actually excellent. The only problem has been that Mrs. Honda has just been washing things down the sink, so now it's blocked and beyond the p-trap. So I've got a call in for the trailer guy to come. My snake appears to be not long enough, LOL. Guest guest
I used to eat those as well as the salted duck eggs, and once, I ate Balut (mature egg with chick) I no longer eat any of those though, as one cannot ascertain how the eggs were harvested or how the hens were treated. Sticking to sprouts and unprocessed vegan food has eliminated any worries for me. That CSA continues to be a wonderful addition to our diet. Last night had a red leaf lettuce salad with a cashew nut dressing that was amazing. n Dr. Rollings NJ Licensed Psychologist #4686 www.DrnRollings.com Sent from my iPad On Jun 12, 2011, at 12:20 PM, " Ernest Willingham " wrote: > Mel, if you want to know about the black eggs, google: Hundred year old eggs. > ew > > Re: Fw: Another new gadget for MELODY to check out and the Flip! > > I am curious about this but I have no desire to try a black cooked egg. > > Melody > >

(and there are many videos of people eating duck eggs and 100 year old eggs on youtube). these things look disgusting. Why on earth would anyone eat these things? Guest guest
Pam. God Bless you. I could learn MUCH from the way you live. Oh guess what I'm building. As I don't have air conditioning in my bedroom (my old one was 15 years old), and I don't really like a COLD room, I went on youtube and there are people who ACTUALLY BUILD their own personal air coolers. As I have ALL the stuff in the house to build my own, I'm taking a crack at it. When I'm done, I'll do a Flip Video. And I thought I could only do SPROUTS!!!!! lol Melody > > Well, if it's like the Japanese, yes, you will saute almost all the veges  > and they usually use toasted sesame oil, which is divine, and the cabbage > cut up in small pieces and the garlic (or ginger) cut up into tiny pieces  > or get one of their graters for the ginger  shreds it so small  what you > end up with is a wonderful blend of tastes, nothing overpowering the rest. > The Japanese family living in my trailer will frequently send me dinner from > whatever they're having  last night it was eggplant and garlic on tofu. > Actually excellent.
