Do I cover my sunnies at night?

I do them EXACTLY as I showed in my video-I throw the seeds on some soil (or

coir, etc), cover them with the pie plate, put a dishcloth over them until the

top pie plate gets lifted up by the mighty lil booger, then I take off the top

plate and leave them in room light, room temp, until their little " hats " fall

off (sometimes you need to pick the hats off), then just snip them and eat them.

They should be ready for you to at least taste them already-I often don't wait

for the hat to fall off, lol

the sprouting?). Do any of you (when you go to bed at night), do you cover them,

or dome them, or just leave them out?

I have to show you how my sunnies are doing. They are GROWING. I am so thrilled.

Thanks very much

Here's the video of how they look right now.

And I have to compliment you on your choice in music. I have a friend who is

depressed. I put your sunflower video on her FB wall.

I told her " close your eyes and listen to this Happy Music " .

She does this when she feels down.

Thanks very much.

SEE, MEL???? You DID it! Nothing to it. Next step, we will get you growing

some hydroponic mini veggies in your living room! I do, lol. I even had a

miniature rice padi, growing rice, lol. SUCH fun to learn about this stuff,

isn't it? Your sunnies look great!

You saw my sunnies and pea shoots right? They are sprouting FINALLY. I did the

watering thing and that did the trick. No more misting. But it's getting late

and by 10 p.m I'm done for the night.

Can I leave them on top of my stove where they have been greening up all day

long? Do I need to shut the light or should they be greening up all night too?

I think wrote that she turns the light off but I want to make sure.

And do I cover them? That's what I really want to know.

Thanks much

They are doing really well.  You seem to have luck with plates too, instead of

blass pie plates.

Turn the light off at night (after all, it's dark outside at night, isn't it?)

and don't cover them once they start growing.

That's my NSHO - YMMV - lol

And they are sprouting. But you don't get that many (like brassicas). I have to

grow A LOT OF SUNFLOWER SPROUTS.

Mel, didn't you see my post where I said to use 4 T (that's tablespoonsful) of

seeds per 9 " pie plate? That's what told me to do and that's what I do.

That makes a nice big crop - quite dense, so when you cut some, you don't make a

big dent in the growth. I snip them off at the dirt level with my fingers and

eat a few whenever I pass the dish. Lovely.

You must have been a great teenager if you weren't scolded since you were 4.  I

can't say that.  I got scolds along the way and did stop by time I was 18 and

TThey are actually blossoming?  Wow.  I figured they would have to be really

tall before they would have blossoms on them.  I thought you were just

sprouting them and cutting them off when they were maybe 3 " long.  I have a lot

to learn about this.  Where do you get  your coir?  You put that in the pie

plate before spreading your seed on top?  I ate a little of the 4 seed salad

today.  I put it on a sandwich.  The tops are turning a bit green so I

undovered it.  I tried to put in some light from a tiny window in the

kitchen.   I am not sure how to eat them other than on sandwich.  I guess I

can put them on top of a salad.  But they don't seem big enough for a real

salad.  How large do you get them before you make a salad of them?

Let's put it this way. When I was a teenager, I weighed quite a bit more than my

mother. I was quite a bit taller than her. She was 5 feet, my grandmother was 4

feet 11 and where the heck I came from, god only knows. I am five feet 7. So no

one scolded me and lived.

I would never have thought of hitting my mother and probably not my father

either.  I sure got a lot of spanking from him and some from Mom too. But I

would tell them what I thought at times.  I was a fairly good kid but I didn't

take a lot of abuse from anyone except Dad or Mom.   I did throw a brush and

hit my sister in thehead once.  She was giving me a hard time.  I am the one

who got the brush broken on my bottom and then the fly swatter before Mom used

her hand.  I figured my sister deserved the hit.  Guess I should have gotten

her out alone, but I didn't.

But I didn't get off with no criticism or hassle.
