Guest guest
The 2.5 gram packet is a very small dose. Some people use 10 grams per day (two 5 gram packets). Therefore I wouldn't worry too much about getting a supraphysiologic dose by starting 2.5 right away. Since you've said that your goal is to avoid the "crash", I don't think you'd want to wait until the end of your shot cycle. Of greater concern though, is the question of how testosterone therapy might effect your avascular necrosis. I don't believe that anyone has really proven a causal relationship, but there is some opinion out there that testosterone therapy does contribute to it. The weird thing is that low testosterone levels can be a cause of osteoporosis/osteopenia. So you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. Osteopenia/porosis and Osteonecrosis (avascular necrosis) are two completely different conditions. From what I've been reading, testosterone therapy can help with one but can hurt the other. Glenn My HIV doc wants to switch me from Testosterone shots to Androgel 1% (2.5 grams per dose) I am currently taking shots at 150mg every 10 days. She wants to avoid the peaks and lows of shots. I also have Avascular Necrosis in both hips (one hip replaced last year) and she thinks that maybe it will slow the spread of AVN. My question is when should I start the gel, at the end of a shot cycle, in the middle, or ?, I want to attempt to avoid the crash of low testosterone. Does anyone have any opinion of avascular necrosis and testosterone?? AVN is truly a horrible experience, and from the research I have done no one seems sure of how AVN/HIV are related, except for long term HIV/ meds/ steroids, its all a big question. Any input would be great. Thanks,
