Guest guest
Pam, If you want your onions to mature into dry onions, break those seed pods now. Just grab the stalk and bend it and break it. If you leave them they will make seeds and your onions will become too strong to eat. You can indeed harvest in this stage. The onions will be tasty, but you cannot store them at this stage in their development. When the stocks fall over, you can dig up the onions. the stocks do not have to be completely dry. After you dig up the bulbs, leave them out in the sun for a couple of days. Do not wash before storing. Just rub off any dirt. You can store your onions Melody style. Check out her video using panty hose. ew question for EW or whoever I don't know when to harvest onions. I have a few that are putting up those wonderful seed pods that look like the top of russian churches. Should I be harvesting my onions now, or only the onions that are starting to " flower " or what? Thanks, Pam
Guest guest
Thanks, EW, I'll go break those seed pods now. I definitely want to store, since I have around 100, LOL. I so appreciate this information!
