I store mine at room temp. If your planning on sprouting them, and because they

probably have a higher water/oil content than regular sprouting seeds, I would

think it's probably not ideal to freeze them, as freezing can sometimes effect

the sprouting capabilities of seeds. This is an ongoing debate. I've had no

problem sprouting smaller hard seeds that I have frozen, but larger seeds as

sunnies may be more easily damaged by freezing. Just my opinion here.

Subject: How does everyone store their sprouts?

I've just bought several pounds of sunnies and I'm thinking of

storing them in the freezer. Just wondering what all of you do

typically?

Thanks

I grow my own sprouts and I put them in plastic containers. The square

shaped ones from Zip Lock, Glad or store brand. They stay fresh for several

days for me.

I do the same. I rinse my sprouts and spin dry. Then wrap them in a cotton towel

for a couple of hors to make sure they are really dry. Then I put a paper towel

in the bottom of the container, add sprouts, put on lid and refrigerate. The

last up to a week. By that time, I have the next batch ready to process.

ew

PS: Don't crowd the sprouts. Use more than on container, if you have to.

My seeds are stored in glass mason jars in the coolest closet in the house. You

want to keep them cool an dry at all times.

I have 18 kinds in the closet, plus flax and chia in the kitchen. Oh, I have

grean beans, yellow beans, onions, and peas drying that I harvested this year. I

also saved seeds from Burnet. Plus sweet pea seeds, some or which I have already

planted for the winter/spring flowering.

I grow only scallions, because dry onions take more care than I can give. I keep

in the house one each, white , brown and red onion, and replace them when I use

one. I have a basket on the kitchen table where I keep onions, lemons, lime and

bananas. If I cut an onion, but don't use it all at once, I put the extra in a

zip lock bag and put in in the fridge. They only last four or five days after

they're cut. Whereever you store them, they need air circulation. I don't have a

dark place, but if I did, that's where I would store them.

Jane - I store all of my sprouting seed in the freezer -- usually in the plastic

bags they come in -- I add a piece of masking tape to the bag and mark the date

I rec'd them.

So far it has worked great.
