Guest guest
All I can add to the debate is that my French dermatologist in Paris believes that Bio Alcamid is not safe and she won't use it. She says she has seen too many complications and damage to the face that is hard to fix. I don't know of any doctors here in France who use this product. I agree with . There must be a good reason. I'd also appreciate hearing from others in our group.

Guest guest
Each person has to select the treatment that he feels is the best for him. None are perfect. Each has drawbacks. Let's all hope that some day the scientists will come up with a perfect solution to our lipoatrophy problem caused by HIV.
Guest guest
I saw the post from Rosenzwieg about Bio-Alcamid in Europe and thought I would respond... I suffer from lipoatrophy noticabely in my face since I went through treatment for HCV last year and dropped about 30 lbs. My weight has now returned but my face has not changed. Therefore, I have been determined to do something for about a year. Also, since last year my work has brought me here to Europe from the US. So, when I started exploring my options, I naturally started talking to people here who were having the same problems. At first, being from the US, all I really heard much about was Nu- fill, so this was the option I started to pursue. But more and more I started to here positive things about Bio-Alacmid, which I had not heard about until I joined this group and contacted a clinic here in the Netherlands. I just recently made an appointment at the Velthuis clinic here. They were very helpful, and going into this appointment I was still debating Nu-fill but wanted to hear more about Bio-Alcamid. Dr. Velthuis says that almost no one is doing Nu-fill any longer and they are all using Bio-Alcamid more and more, becuase of its permanance, its natural look and feel, and the fact that it can be adjusted if this is required by removing it. He has done both Nu-fill in the past and many applications of Bio- Alcamid at this point, he is recommending Bio-Alcamid for all of this patients with lipo. Also, since I have only moderate lipo, the whole procedure is only going to cost $1500 Euros. I was expecting to pay up to 3 times that. My appointment is coming up in September..if people are willing to hear, I'll let everyone know how it goes.
