Guest guest
Why does everyone juice wheat grass. What is wrong with chopping it up and mixing it with something that taste better. Something like yogurt and pecans or sprouted San Francisco mix. maybe a little stevia if not sweet enough?? I hate to spring for a juicer that will handle wheat grass. Guest guest
Also forgot to mention, I bought my juicer from Amazon.com for $46.50 online. It is a manual hand crank type and works very well. It's called the Lexan Healthy Manual JuicerMike > To: sproutpeople > From: mikkyle@... > Date: Thu, 27 Oct 2011 12:44:01 -0700 > Subject: RE: eating wheat grass. > > > Hi,I grow wheatgrass with hard red winter wheat berries and makes a very sweet juice, but it has to be juiced or chewed and spit out, because it contains cellulose which is not digestible by humans or anything with only one stomach. Cows can digest because they have more than one stomach. Guest guest
In my experience, you would be chewing a very long time if you're eating the grass itself instead of juicing it. Â The manual Healthy Juicer which sells for about $44.95 (try Amazon) works great for juicing wheat grass and also for other greens, celery, cukes, ginger, etc. I use mine almost every day for a glass of extremely healthy green juice. Take a look and see what you think. This juicer has a small footprint and is easy to assemble/disassemble and to clean. Guest guest
You can actually blend up in water and squeeze well through nut milk bags, but you simply wont be able to extract or break down the grass cellulose well enough by chopping it up and putting it in foods or chewing it. It might actually make you gag. Man is not meant to eat grasses-it's too tough on the digestive system and your body wont break it down well enough to get nutrition from it-even cows have to re-chew it to make it digestible. Ever consider some high quality wheatgrass powders? eating wheat grass. Why does everyone juice wheat grass. What is wrong with chopping it up and mixing it with something that taste better. Guest guest
Thanks all. That pretty much answere my question. I was wondering if the powders are as good as having fresh?? Also wondering if it is really that healthy?? I read somewhere that it wasn't but had a narcotic effect which made people think it was. Thanks Henry > > You can actually blend up in water and squeeze well through nut milk bags, but you simply wont be able to extract or break down the grass cellulose well enough by chopping it up and putting it in foods or chewing it. Guest guest
I have a big mason jar filled with wheatgrass powder. Every morning, I take a half teaspoon and do the vitamix thing with my other stuff. Turns everything green but you don't taste the grass. You taste the juice. Best thing I ever did was use this Vitamix.
