Guest guest
What did Little Miss Muffet do with it? O/T What do I do with leftover whey?? Hi All. Just made home-made Greek yogurt and I have a half bowl of whey left over. I'll put it in the fridge until someone comes along and tells me what I can do with it. I went on the interet but they talk about using it instead of milk and when you make rice and when you make bread. I don't do that. Can I rinse my sprouts with this liquid? What else can I do with it. Appreciate any input. Thanks much. melody
Guest guest
Make some ricotta cheese with it! Super easy....just let the whey sit at room temperature overnight, then gently heat it to 180 degrees in a NON REACTIVE pot (I use Corning Visions), allow it to cool to 140 degrees, then pour it into an unbleached coffee filter suspended over a glass bowl-the curds will develop in the filter and the remaining whey will drain away into the bowl (you can use THAT whey to rinse your sprouts or water plants) The ricotta will form in the coffee filter, then just refrigerate it. You can also make it more quickly by adding a bit of lemon juice or vinegar to the whey rather than leaving it to sit overnight, but it isn't as good of a final product. > > Hi All. > > Just made home-made Greek yogurt and I have a half bowl of whey left over. > > I'll put it in the fridge until someone comes along and tells me what I can do with it. Guest guest
Hi. Well, the NEXT time I make yogurt, I'll try and make ricotta with the leftover whey. This time, I fed the plants ourside my house. They needed a good drink. So either I killed them, or they'll grow nice basil. We shall see Thanks very much Melody > > > > Hi All. > > > > Just made home-made Greek yogurt and I have a half bowl of whey left over. > > > > I'll put it in the fridge until someone comes along and tells me what I can do with it.
