Guest guest
Hi everyone -- I know if everyone remembers me, I'm a Peace Corps volunteer in Romania working with an organization for kids with autism. Two questions: 1) I received a grant to do a volunteer program to teach volunteers to do ABA in homes. The trainings are going great so far, but trying to order the materials online is not. I'm looking to buy tactile sensory items, chew tubes, wilberger brushes, and an ABBLS assessment kit mostly. Does anyone know of a store in MD, NY or PA that sells any of these? A lot of online places have seriously overpriced shipping, and as that has to come out of my own pocket, I'd rather avoid it. 2) I just found out that my organization will most likely lose funding starting in March. Our sponsor has 2 children with autism, and as it seems less and less likely they'll be " cured " she's taking it out on our center, with constant threats to close us. I'm now trying to fund raise while I'm home for Christmas for a few weeks in order to fund the center for 3 months, during which time we'll do a publicity campaign to get alternative funding which will include a website, an annual report, and other ways of getting awareness about our center. Does anyone know organizations that might be willing to help? Honestly my main problem right now is finding an intermediary.. my original plan was to have people donate to the center via PayPal, but Romanian bank policy is to not allow credit cards to accept funds, so donating directly overseas is going to be near impossible. If anyone has any ideas or advice, I'd seriously appreciate it. Thanks! Eileen Magan Peace Corps Romania 2006-2008
Guest guest
Hi Eileen, Amazon.com has an amazing array of therapy items. I just ordered theraputty on there. They offer free shipping on many things. I order some of my son's gluten free/casein free foods and supplements on there too. I've found nearly everything on amazon- did most of my holiday shopping on there. -Tami (and no, I don't work for amazon- but if they offered flex schedule and work from home I might!)
