Guest guest
Yes Patty, Uveitis, Iritis, can be associated with the type of disease we have as well as Cataracts and Glaucoma from the steroid use. Also those on Plaquenil should be aware of the much needed eye exams. Maybe not a bad idea to have the eyes checked if your experiencing eye trouble. Blurred vision may just be a " side effect " from a medication and that may be all there is to it. Then again, it could be a symptom or precursor to something else going on. Guest guest
I have had an eye problem with my right eye since about 9 months after getting diagnosed. I went to the eye doctor once a month for over 7 months and it hasn't cleared up. We tried different meds but nothing worked. The symptoms are that in the morning, I will wake and the lid is swollen and feverish and the eyeball will be really red. Some days, it isn't too bad. Has anyone else in the group had this? I went to a specialist and she said this is common for those with RA. I've had complete strangers ask me what is wrong with my eye and if I had pink eye. I feel like asking them to mind there own business. It would be one thing if it was because they were concerned but in fact, they think I'm going to infect them with something. People, the #1 thing that really keeps the world interesting. Guest guest
Yes, I was told that my blurry vision was due to steroid use. I am now off the roids and my vision is back to normal. >From: SaavyN@... >Reply-To: Stillsdisease >To: Stillsdisease >Subject: Re: Eye problems >Date: Sat, 5 Jan 2002 19:00:59 EST > >Yes Patty, >Uveitis, Iritis, can be associated with the type of disease we have as well >as Cataracts and Glaucoma from the steroid use. Guest guest
My father has had 2 holes in his macular retina and has had the surgery twice. He was on statin drugs at the time. I always figured the holes were more related to high blood pressure (and changing pressure in the eye) but now I'm curious. If anyone has info on this I would be interested. Thanks, Jackie
