I bought generic Flintstones and had to pay someone to take them off

my hands because I hated them! I take Centrum now. I tested them

for dissolving. Ooops, I tested Centrum Silver before I found out

my iron was lower than I wanted (I don't have periods so thought I

didn't need extra iron). I LOVE those Gummi vitamins you can get at

Costco, but they don't have all the vitamins and minerals we need.

There is liquid oh shoot, can't remember which one, but a national

brand, available at Target, very expensive. I just went with

regular vitamins right away, with the approval of Dr.K, because the

chewables tasted so bad.

Marta

ps test anything you buy for dissolvability: 20 minutes when

dropped into a glass of water.

Most vitamions make me gag! Especially the large smelly ones!

The first few months post-op I took the childrens gummy bear

multivitamins, then I switched to Centrum adult chewables - they are

orange flavored (much better taste than the kids chewables) and I

don't have to wonder if they are dissolving! Also still stuck on

Viactive Calcium Chews - orange cream and strawberry cream are my

favorite, but have been know to eat the caramel and chocolate ones

with a handful of nuts and raisins!!

Centrum also has an adult liquid vitamin, I have found it at most

large stores (Longs, Rite-Aid, Walgreens, Target, etc...)

Well to our crazy group. You've gotten some good info on general

multi-vitamins from the group. Like you, I can't take really big

pills (ever since I was a kid.) I'm not sure if you're aware that

most calcium pills are rather large. Since I simply can not get

those gargantuan things down, I take both powdered and liquid forms

of calcium. The powdered (500mg per dose), which is called UpCalD,

I get from vitalady.com. The liguid (750mg per dose), which is made

by LifeTime, I get from hono.com. The liquid is fairly expensive

(just under $10 per bottle). Probably there are competing brands and

probably there are locations that they can be found at a lesser

cost. I'm just guessing that the powdered and liquid forms might be

more readily absorbable - but that's just an uneducated guess.

Hi !

I hate big pills, too. So I take chewable multi-vitamins by

Centrum. I also take Metamucil fiber capsules (for gastric health)

and magnesium (for foot cramps). The pills I have to swallow are

small and go down easily. There's no need to take big pills. You

may have to try different brands to see what works best for you, and

depending on what supplements you need after your surgery since

everyone is different.

What a great idea Cindee! I take Viactiv too and will take the

caramel in a pinch but I don't really like them. Adding some

crunchies to it would make it much more palatable, I'm sure! Thanks

so much for the suggestion!

Hugs!

  • 2 years later...

Just thought I'd let you know I had a call from my dietician (as

wonderful as she is) to let me know about a capsule multivitamin. I

know someone on here was asking about multivitamin alternatives in the

last week or so and I had also asked her myself if there was any in a

capsule form that she knew of (as I can't stand the taste of the

Supradyn that I'm taking). Anyway the brand is Macro and it's called

Multi M. That's all the information I've got but thought you might find

it useful.
