Guest guest
Hi group I have posted variations of this question before, but I would appreciate any and all responses. I am having to respond Does anyone know of a study which specifically focused upon and/or asserted there is a time frame in which intensive aba is effective and after that loses it's effectiveness. The studies I have read (I am not an expert) suggest that aba is most effective in raising IQ's in the first year and in subsequent years has the most benefit for socal and behavioral remediation. The later key for successful integration in typical classrooms (with or without a shadow/aide). Therefore, the benefit of aba may remediate different areas of deficiets at different intervals, but the overall benefit is ongoing and continues to support overall lesening of autistic characteristics. The time period in which the aba was conducted seems to vary in studies between 2-4 years in general. In the studies I have not found any discussion of research based limitation of intensive services (home-based or clinical). I have not found a study which places a time constraint-namely 3 years- on the effectivenss of aba. I would appreciate all comments and edification on this topic.
