Limiting Beliefs and Intent

On one of the other weight loss support forums I belong to, someone

posted about how MTV was casting for the show True Life. To quote:

" MTV's True Life is casting individuals who recently lost a lot of

weight through Lap Band Surgery, Gastric Bypass, or diet & exercise.

Did you trade in your larger figure for stretch marks, excess skin,

surgical scars, obsession with body image? Did you think losing weight

would make you happy, but you are as uncomfortable in your new skin as

you were in your old? Are you considering a tummy tuck soon? Have you

already had one? If you are between the ages of 17-27, and would like

to share your story, we would love to hear from you. Please send your

contact number, a photo and brief bio to newbody@.... "

I read it and my light bulb went off. This strikes me as propagation

of a prevalent limiting belief, the whole " Weight loss is hard. " I

responded so in a comment to the post, but then someone else responded

about how changing both body and mind does not occur naturally. That

made me laugh (mostly at myself.) It was a pinnacle moment in which I

realized that I wanted my intent to be for the IOWL change to happen

naturally and easily.

I think that that was my unspoken (perhaps unconscious mind's) intent

from the beginning. I'm noticing small changes already. For

instance, my husband cooked a pizza for dinner, and while I put four

pieces on my plate, I only ate two during dinner. I ate the other two

much later when I got hungry again. My own patterns are becoming more

noticable and I think I'm actually starting to listen to myself.

Bravo! I commend you. I know what you mean about IOWL. Now when I sit

down to eat I pay attention to my body signals and allow myself to

stop when I am satisfied. I dislike those types of shows, the

propaganda!!! I especially don't like The Biggest Loser, I find it so

unrealistic the amount people lose in a week, it sets the " normal "

dieter to feel like a failure when they only lose 1-2 pounds per week.

In this society of instant gratification it seems like there is no end

to the craziness. I am such a fan of IOWL. I am trying to get others

involved as well. Good luck to you.
