Guest guest
and I think that while Pharmo's may not be interested in curing you, your medical doctor is. and if you have a good one who keeps up on the latest studies, meds, technology, they can keep you as healthy as any NP. Plus they are the only ones who can prescribe the drugs, bad as they are, that can completely eliminate the virus. true some of the alt. therapies do work as advertised also. But I see no real difference in my GP or a person like dr. murray. their both human. they both work for money. both are subject to outside influences. and both are just practicing, on us. You are right the fda is a joke but guess who appointed.....ok I won't get political. In the end you are exactly right. we all need to investigate and learn for ourselves. no source is 100% accurate and and quite often the whole truth is withheld from us or so complicated we can't understand. so how do we choose? it worked for me word of mouth? believe someone cause he's cute and wrote a couple books? Believe drug company studies? Trust the fda? We're on our own cause neither side can prove anything. IMHO ric " You can explore the universe looking for somebody who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself-- and you will not find that person anywhere. " Buddhist saying. Guest guest
Hi Janet, Thanks for clarifying. I asked because there seems to be some confusion (even in the medical community) over the numbers and what they mean. I have read that the numbers might be related to how long you have had HCV. So that an individual would be able to get an idea of when he or she contracted the virus. Given your high number it would indicate that you have had the virus for sometime. But that is only true if what I read about the subject is accurate. In any event, great news that you are beating the virus. Keep up the good work!! Joe No Joe, I mean two hundred and twenty five million. I am now down to eight hundred and eighty, as of the 12 week mark. My virus count was a lot higher with the first treatment. But due to that treatment it brought it down alot. At the end of treatment with the Peg intron, I was down at 48 weeks to 1500. And then it rose back up to the 2 hundred and twenty five million. Still that is not as high as it was before. Joe, I keep beating at this disease with what ever I can. And I seem to be winning in what ever small way I can. Anyway I keep my armor on and I am dragon slaying at every opportunity. I am genotype 1b so ya know I just have to fight a bit harder. Guest guest
Ric, Good thoughts. Thanks so much for sharing them. Sal hi and I'm prolly being long winded today but we need to take advantage of those days right? I want to tell Janet that I do admire her saying she would be a live donor. I noticed on another list years ago that there were a few who had cleared the virus and some who were in desperate need of a new liver and asked if it was possible for one who has achieved SVR to be a live donor? Personally, I think it's possible once certain conditions are met. ie: complete regeneration. I don't know if it's ever been done. I know it would be an intensly personal decision. but at the same time, I think that it should be mentioned to those who clear that it may be possible in the future to donate half your liver with minimal risk. I think if that were possible a large portion of that population would be willing to donate because they've been there. and that group of folks is getting larger every day. Just my opinion....ric It's a pleasure having you join in our conversations. We hope you have found the support you need with us. Guest guest
Ric, Yes, its good to hear about the apparent successes with achieving SVR for transplant folks too. I had read the studies that mentioned some transplanted livers were damaged much faster than the original liver did. Probably anti-rejection had something to do with that. Knocking the virus back is a good thing. Sal hi and Sally, like you I am puzzled about treating after transplant. I do know 1 person who did that and cleared the virus. But it seems like a total contradiction. Your lowering your antibodies to rejection and yet boosting you immune system? All I know is that they are doing it more with more success. The thought around starting tratment before emminent transplant is in hopes of lowering the viral load so the bodies own immune system has a better chance of clearing the virus on it's own after transplant so the treatment meds after transplant must help with that too. They started to notice that some lucky folks did clear the virus on their own after transplant so there trying to increase those odds. It's a pleasure having you join in our conversations. Guest guest
Ric I KNOW that IF it were possible, I would certainly consider being a live liver donor,, Im clear now almost 3 years and the fibrosure said I had regressed from stage 3-4 with early cirrhosis to stage 0-1 with NO activity and the heptimax tested the vl and was still undetectible down to 2-5 iu/ml... so Im hoping that means its really gone...
