Guest guest
Hi gang! Sorry I didn't cut-n-paste properly in my US v. CANADA post. I thought I had. I had an extremely rough weekend. On Friday, I went to work and started bawling like a baby when the song " Mr. Bojangles " came on the radio. I had been thinking about Konrad, the dog I had for 16 years, even before Joya had mentioned the loss of her furbaby. He's been dead for about 4 years, but the sadness seemed so raw. Well, I realized I wasn't in top form, so as soon as I arrived at school, I let the principal know I wasn't feeling well and headed back. I stopped at the school board office to let the social work dept. know I'd be out. My supervisor and another supervisor sang me Happy Birthday (which was sweet). I headed straight to my doctor's office, walked in and told them I wasn't leaving until she saw me. Her assistant seemed annoyed when she greeted me, standing in the doorway to the waiting area...saying that they had a full schedule. I insisted on speaking somewhere privately, and she took me to an exam room where I promptly burst into tears and told her I felt exactly the way I had when I had first been diagnosed with hypothyroidism. She got all sympathetic and told me to have a seat and that the doc would see me soon. She came in, questioned me a lot and sent me to the lab for bloodwork to check thyroid, FSH, LSH and estrogen. I went home from there, turned off the phone, cried, slept, and watched movies. I felt better on Saturday and Sunday, but chose to stay home, rest, and stay to myself. I think I was having warm flashes...I was really warm, almost hot, but not sweating. I got my period on Sunday. I went to work today and feel a lot better. I think the adjustment to getting up early for school was too sudden. I just did AL4 (with modifications). It felt great. Strangely, after I did Oxycise on Saturday, my knee hurt. Go figure. Anyway, I feel somewhat renewed from my weekend as a hermit. I'm looking forward to getting the results of my blood test. I hope it indicates something...sometimes when I have had bloodwork done, it hasn't...which is strange. Have any of you experienced " warm " flashes as opposed to " hot " flashes? Do such things exist? Enough for now...thanks for listening. ;-) F
Guest guest
, I'm glad that you are taking care of yourself. I hope you feel better soon. Good for you on demanding to be seen. I takes me months to get an appointment with my doctor. I can't help you on the warm/hot flashes issue but it doesnt sound like fun. Isn't there and herb/vitamin supplement(I think called estroven) that is suppose to help with the mood swings and other symptoms?????? Maybe it is worth checking out. I'll be thinking of you. Oh, , what a way to spend your birthday! I am sorry you are having so much trouble. I know one thing though, you are the one to talk to if I ever need a push to assert myself. Good for you for getting in to see the doctor! Elena

Isn't there and herb/vitamin supplement(I think called estroven) that is suppose to help with the mood swings and other symptoms?????? Progest is very good for this...and it is good for any age with PMS symptoms...you can find out more about it by reading Dr. Lee's book " What your Doctor Never Told You About Menopause " (and I repeat, it is not just for us older ladies). I wish I was that assertive! I hope that the blood work turns out OK and that whatever is making you feel so bad can be easily corrected. You'll be in my thoughts!
