Guest guest
Kerri, Welcome to the group! There are a bunch of Live Basic tapes that you can purchase from www.taebo.com or looking for on e-bay. Till then you can spice up your workout by doing Taebo for a few minutes and then adding some weights (to the rest of the group-no, I'm not plagerizing I knew about interval training)more taebo more tapes and work up to a 45 minute workout. This will really speed up the toning. You might try looking at some weight lifting books to get an idea of the types of exercises. I use Body for Life by Bill and Joyce Vedrel's 12-minute a day workout. I use heavier weights than Dr. Vedrel reccomends 15lb vs. 5lb 12lb vs. 3lb etc. because it tones the muscle more efficiently and does not add bulk. Don't worry about your weight because you might add on to it by building muscle but you will look thinner. I want to get back into the swing, but get bored doing the same tape over and over. Any suggestions about which other tapes I should buy? Now some background. I am 33 years old. I'm 5'6 " and 127 pounds. Although I'm not really overweight (like everyone, I'd like to be a little thinner), I definitely want to be more toned and defined whether I get thinner or not. I look forward to learning from all of you on this list. Kerri Ritchie As Deb has said: " Fitness is a journey and it begins with the first step. Glad to have you here. You will definitely get more toned and defined from taebo. Taebo completely changes your body and makes you so much stronger. One way to build up to the advanced (which was hard for all of us when we started) is to start adding the floor work from the advanced to the basic tape. You can also do the advanced up to the floor work and stop. It's OK to modify the tapes and moves. recommends it in the tapes and in his book " The Taebo Way. " Do you have the live version of the tapes or the studio version? The live tape has real people, not just instructors. It also has real songs with lyrics and the class sizes are bigger. I'm asking because the basic in the live version 4-pack is a real good tape if you don't already have it. A lot of people try live basic tapes after conquering the studio basic and before moving on to advanced tapes. It helps the transition. Other good live basic tapes are BL1, BL2, and my current favorite BL7 ( it has great music). Elena

Guest guest
Hi Kerri! Welcome to the group! A good way to " graduate " up to the advanced tape is to add the 8- minute tape after the basic workout. It's a faster paced workout like the advanced and can help you gradually build your stamina. All of the live tapes are wonderful. BL 2 & 3 are good ones to start out with as well as BL1 (you may not get the older version of BL1 like we all have as they are new distributing a newer version of it). If you're looking to tone-up, Tae-Bo is the thing that will do it for you without bulking up. You'll tone your whole body, not just in certain spots, which is the thing I love about Tae-Bo. Guest guest
Melynda, I forgot to wish you " welcome. " (I was sorta in shock from a rather bizarre trip out of town when I read posts and sporadically responded last night.) ;-) F who's feeling much better now that she's home > > Hi. Guest guest
Welcome to the group Kerri I'm sure you'll get good advice on tapes and I hope you'll enjoy the group and make new friends here - keep up the good work. Kerri, Welcome to the group! I'm glad you decided to join us I don't really think you have any weight to lose neccesarily (according the the WW guidelines, at 5'6 the minimum weight for all adults is 124, which is right about where you are), you may just need to tone your muscles to give you that " fit " look! Tae-Bo will definitely help you get more muscle definition and you can definitely get that toned and defined look! As for tape suggestions, if you can afford it, I would recommend getting on the basic automatic monthly delivery which gives you a new tape every month and you save $5. After you get a few new tapes, you can either switch your subscription to advanced tapes or cancel your subscription until you are ready for more tapes! Having a variety of tapes will really help keep you motivated
Guest guest
Thanks so much for your reply and information--especially since you were the only one that responded . I was hoping for more feedback. I am also wanting to hear from people who hhave tried these types of things with older kids, teenagers, or young adults, and the results. After all of these years, I'm still not willing to let my 23 year old son live an OK life when I know he can have a much better and hopefully more fulfilling life with friends. > >Hi, > It looks that your son would have been diagnosed with Asperger's if he were to be of > school age now. > I have an Aspie myself, and personally don't beleive in these labels.
