Guest guest
I have to agree with Doug. Get a head start on the depression. It is just to hard to overcome by its self, but with the tx some find it impossible to deal with. It was my down fall in tx but such is life. Good luck with your tx. Guest guest
Ric, Everything is not bad news. I have found out just how good a wife that I do have. She, and my family have been very supportive. Without her I would have not made it this far. Chris Re: High viral load Wyland 51M Married.......Hi and welcome. I would be very concerned, and so should your doctor be, about the depression. I assume your a genotype 2 or 3 because of the first 24 week treatment.. 92 Million is very high and hard to overcome. Fortunately, it doesn't reflect the amount of damage to your liver. Did your PCR jump up a lot higher after first treatment? Mine did. But yours is the highest I've ever heard of. Again don't worry too much about that number. The problem is what treatment is doing to you. There's no shame in stopping. doesn't mean your a loser or that your going to die. Maybe it's time to stop and let all this clear out and then see how you feel. High in the Colorado Rockies......ric richobbs1@... Guest guest
my best wishes for you. Many people struggle for 2 years and more on treatment before they get a response. And for some of those, in the end, it's all worth it. I hope you are one of those. The odds are in your favor being a geno 3. If you can afford it, get your PCR done often, get regular blood tests, and rely on your wonderful wife and us when your in the dark hole of depression. there is much support here. Drink lots of water and hopefully, you will see those numbers start to come down and gather some strength from that. What combo are you on? Good Luck Bud...... Guest guest
Hi welcome to the group. I've been through it twice. Make sure your doctor medicates you well for side effects. Mine sure did. I don't think I would have survived it otherwise. Guest guest
Hi nice to meet you. High viral load is a pain. Viral load can fluctuate. Nonresponders often have their viral load spike right after treatment and often it settles down a few years later (if they don't retreat). Most people with any chronic condition have depression, so that's nothing new really. And on of the the biggest sides of Interferon is depression, so I'd say get on a good antidepressant if you aren't already. The mood swings are a pain (I keep wanting to say the b word LOL) but they don't last forever. I don't know how my husband put up with me then. My problem is I can't take SSRI type antidepressants. They make me depressed. I can only take the type that work on dopamine, like Wellbutrin (Zyban). So finding the right one might take a psychiatrist (my gastro didn't know this and prescribed me SSRI's, made me more depressed).
