Surgery went very well. put a fake snake under his gown and was rolled

into surgery. The Dr. knew about it but didn't tell any of the nurses. In

the operating room he reached into 's shirt and pulled it out. One of

the nurses left the room screaming! :). It was great to hear when he

woke up telling us the story. When the doc came out of surgery to tell us how

it went he had a big smile and said how scared the nurses!

The spot on his throat was actually much larger than we had expected. It had

spread all around the back of his throat. We were just seeing the tip. It

looks like it was a plugged mucus membrane gland......the mucus got under the

skin and spread. It was still sent to pathology so we will know for sure in

a couple of days. He had scar tissue that was blocking airway in one nostril

and that was removed. He had heavy mucus in both nostrils but his sinus

cavities looked good.....did not check frontals. I asked how could he have

so much mucus but the cavities looked good. He said the mucus membranes can

secret the mucus. After the lab results come in Im sure we will be sent back

to Stanford to have our PED ENT take a look.

When all the results are back we will no where to go from here.

I'm so glad had a sense of humor about the surgery! I can just imagine

the nurses screaming--I would have. I hate snakes!

Glad everything went well & hope you get results soon.

msmith, Just wanted to wish you all the best with your surgery. I am very

grateful that I had mine. My recovery has been up and down, mostly up. I feel

good today, much better than I have felt for years. I did not expect low K

symptoms to return, which they did, but since my K is normal, my BP is

decreasing (116/70 today)with only half of one of two BP meds I was taking, and

more energy, I believe those symptoms are just my body adjusting to only one

adrenal gland. I look forward to hearing how everything goes. You will be in

my prayers. ~Lucy
