Guest guest
Hello everyone, I finally made it to Texas. I am sitting here at Lackland AFB, in San , Texas. Now mind you I don't know if I will ever drive in this city. LOL Yesterday, I went to visit with my sister Jane, she had a doctor's appt at Army Medical Center. My brother in law Tom is retired Navy so they can use the military hospitals. She had a eye appt. so was going to be there for a while. I put the girls in the truck and just as we were leaving one of the neighbor young men had just got home. I was in luck!! I really didn't want to drive in a strange city not really knowing where I was going. I asked him if he wouldn't mind going with me. He said for sure not a problem. So while I drove he gave directions. I had a good visit with Jane and her hubby, and they decided to take Breianna(our daughter) home with them for a while. I bet she will stay a week or so. One kid down just have our granddaughter Alyssa with us and we are enjoying the quiet time. LOL Alyssa, enjoys it too, because she just had her grandpa all to herself. Forget grandma, she is just there to cook and clean. On the way back to the base it started to rain. San has been without any rain for 3 months. Wouldn't you know, I would bring the rain with me from Oklahoma. LOL Well apparently these folks don't know how to drive in rain, because there were 4 wrecks that happened right in front of us. I had let the neighbor young man drive back, because he was going to show me a different way back to the Base. And he did. LOL we ended up going right through the middle of downtown San . Alyssa love that. Okay we are not hicks, but Alyssa has grown up most of her life in small towns. She couldn't get over the sights and sounds of downtown San . She said to us, this reminds me of New York City. LOL Not that the child has ever been to New York City. But I guess in a child's mind what she has seen on TV it would give her that idea. I was too busy watching the traffic and keeping in mind the directions that was giving me. We made it back to the base and I think the next time I venture out, I will take a map with me. But he did show me a mall that was just down the road a bit from the base, it has all the stores you would want to go to. And that is good enough for me. LOL I am going with to work out at the gym, we were supposed to go last night. But I tuckered out on him. I had been busy all day long unpacking boxes, putting them into our RV. Finding places to store stuff in a RV is a challenge. We are going to live in our RV till we can find a house. Alot of people do that here, live here on base in the Fam Camp and the lot rent is cheap, you get free high speed internet, free cable, and free laundry. Can't beat that. The rent is 405.00 a month. I even went to the laundry room last night did my clothes and was ironing some shirts and pants. They even provide the ironing board and iron!!!! That is living I tell ya. LOL I like here so far. One of the good things is my sister is about a 45 min drive away, and that will be a good thing. She was like a mother to me growning up, and I can honestly say that I wouldn't be the person I am now without her. She taught me just about everything I know. She taught me how to cook, she told me about the facts of life, even taught me how to crochet. Although she is only 8 years older than me, it was enough age difference to be able for her to take her baby sis under her wing. Now Breianna my daughter will get the chance to know and love her Aunt Jane. Well I will keep you all updated as things go along. I am excited about being here. Mostly just ready to get my life going smoothly and making a new home here.
